Job summary

Intermediate District 287 is seeking an Equity and Inclusion Coordinator to advance district equity initiatives, engage with diverse communities, and lead inclusive programs across K-12 and transition-age students. Based at the Plymouth service center, this role partners with school teams to promote equity and cultural awareness districtwide.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in a field related to education, psychology, social work, sociology, counseling, or similar.
  • Minimum of three (3) years of professional-level experience in race equity or inclusion, community outreach, project management or engagement, and building relationships with underrepresented and underserved communities.
  • Or a combination of relevant education and professional experience totaling at least 7 years.

Responsibilities

  • Serve as a thought partner to Equity Leads in developing and growing equity teams using equity tools.
  • Create staff development aligned with district plans to identify learner needs and provide accommodations or interventions.
  • Manage programs that enhance learners’ self-concept in a safe learning environment.
  • Convene and facilitate engagement spaces with key internal and external audiences.
  • Provide research-based cultural awareness activities for staff.
  • Identify and remove barriers to underserved and underrepresented groups within the district.
  • Advise on best practices for communication with students, families, and the community.
  • Leverage data from key audiences to develop responsive programs and services.
  • Report departmental metrics and plan improvements based on data.

Position Details:

Location:Based out of the District Service Center in Plymouth, MN

Reports to:Senior Manager of Equity & Inclusion

Start Date:Anticipated start date in October 2026

Contracted days:261 days (July 1 - June 30)

This position follows the Employment Guide for Administrators and Unaffiliated Employees

Salary:Minimum starting salary for Unaffiliated Coordinators is $70,000

Education and Experience Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university with a major in Education, Psychology, Social Work, Sociology, Counseling, or a closely related field.
  • Minimum of three (3) years of professional-level experience in race equity or inclusion, community outreach, project management or engagement, and building relationships with underrepresented and underserved communities.

OR

  • A combination of relevant education and professional experience totaling at least 7 years.

Essential Functions

  • Serve as a thought partner to Equity Leads in the development, implementation, and continuous improvement of equity teams with the use of equity tools in policy and practice, implementation and growth
  • Create staff development consistent with District and site plans to improve their ability to identify the needs of learners and provide appropriate remediation, intervention, accommodations or modifications
  • Manage and coordinate programs that enhance learners’ self-concept in a safe and secure learning environment
  • Convene and facilitate engagement spaces with key audiences internally and externally
  • Provide research-based cultural awareness activities for staff
  • Identify and build strategies to remove structural and social barriers to underserved and underrepresented groups in the District.
  • Advise on best practices for communication delivery methods when messaging with students, families, and the community
  • Leverage data from key audiences to develop responsive programs/services.
  • Provide relevant and timely information to District leadership, including a summary of the principle themes communicated by key audiences related to the District's Strategic Priorities/Strategic Plan.
  • Provide districtwide guidance and coordination of student leadership groups
  • Develop and report departmental metrics, collect data, and related information.
