Job description
Overview

Consulting Services: Equity, Environmental Justice, and Outreach. Acadia Center seeks proposals from qualified individuals or firms to support its ongoing policy efforts on equity and outreach and advance the organization's engagement and outreach in the climate, consumer, and environmental justice sectors. Support will help ensure Acadia Center is able to leverage the latest best practices to prioritize diversity, equity, inclusion, and justice (DEIJ) in its program and external engagements, as well as partnership activities with other stakeholders.

Tasks include:

  • Review, refine, and operationalize various internal materials to build out a policy-guiding toolkit for staff use, such as energy equity and environmental justice policy screening tools.
  • Collaborate with the communications and public engagement team to update processes and adopt best practices, incorporating DEIJ-informed language in the organization's internal and external communications
  • Provide resources, including best practices, case studies, FAQs, etc., to inform and support organization-wide outreach and engagement in our climate advocacy across Northeast states.
  • Provide other applicable materials to support policy and engagement activities in the climate and environmental space
Qualifications

Requirements

  • An understanding of the nonprofit organizational structure and mission, particularly with non-profits of the size and scope of Acadia Center.
  • A familiarity with environmental and climate goals/policies and the landscape in the northeast U.S.
  • A history of success in implementing resource and process improvements for other clients
  • Experience with effective facilitation, communication, and training skills
  • Proven ability to develop internal best practices for non-profit organizations
  • Previous experience with energy and environmental fields and how issues of equity and justice have been addressed currently and historically
Timeline

We expect the engagement to last between 8 - 10 months. A more detailed list of materials and internal deliverables is available. Acadia Center is grateful for support from the Barr Foundation towards this effort. Responses will be accepted and reviewed on a rolling basis until 5 pm May 23, 2025.

Benefits

Acadia Center's Equity, Environmental Justice, and Outreach program team will evaluate applications and make recommendations to the organization's executive leadership for further review. We request that the budget for these tasks not exceed $12,000. We reserve the right to reject all proposals.
