Job summary

Uncommon Schools seeks passionate middle school math teachers to join our Newark/Camden-NJ network. You will deliver CCSS-based instruction, differentiate based on student needs, and collaborate with grade-level teams to drive student growth.

You’ll participate in weekly coaching, ongoing professional development, and a strong focus on school culture, equity, and family partnership. Bachelor's required; NJ certification eligibility supported.

Qualifications

• A demonstrated commitment to supporting students’ social emotional and academic development.
• An enthusiasm for collaborating with internal and external partners in the best interest of students.
• A self-directed learner who solicits and implements feedback to improve outcomes and achieve objectives.
• Demonstrated interest in impacting K-12 students in urban schools and communities (1-2 years experience preferred).
• Academic expertise in Mathematics, Science, Technology, Engineering, or other related fields.
• Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university; NJ state certification eligibility requirements; all instructional staff must become certified in NJ within a reasonable period.

Responsibilities

• Instruction: teach middle school math using CCSS‑based curriculum and fostering problem solving.
• Data Analysis: meet weekly with leadership to analyze student work and assessments; differentiate instruction.
• School Culture: build relationships with students and families; engage in weekly meetings and collaborative goal setting.
