Job summary

Achievement First seeks an Associate Chief of Equity to join the Talent team. Reporting to the Chief People Officer, you will build and drive AF's equity work inside and outside our schools, developing programs, toolkits, standards, and systems that do not yet exist.

You will manage internal equity and student-facing equity initiatives, translate vision into annual plans, and measure progress with robust metrics across multiple regions in a hybrid NYC/CT/RI setting.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree required; Master’s preferred in Education, Public Policy, or related field.
• Diversity certification(s) desirable.
• Experience in or with K-12 schools required; understands Black and Latinx students.
• Minimum of 8 years of progressive experience in equity, organizational development, education, or related field.
• Demonstrated ability to build programs and systems from the ground up.
• Data-driven with track record of measurable outcomes.
• Knowledge of employment laws (focus NY/CT/RI).
• Microsoft Office proficiency (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).

Responsibilities

• Lead design and implementation of internal equity strategy embedding belonging in daily practices.
• Develop frameworks and toolkits for equity in hiring, onboarding, and performance management.
• Provide professional development promoting equity and cultural responsiveness.
• Develop resources, standards, and toolkits for student equity and racial justice understanding.
• Partner with school leaders to embed equity in student experience.
• Identify gaps in equity programming and design practical solutions.
• Serve as thought partner to address moments including community trauma and current events.
• Translate equity vision into annual plans with clear goals and metrics.
• Build and maintain metrics to measure progress on belonging and equity outcomes.
• Manage cross-functional projects with clear owners and timelines.
• Proactively identify issues and bring solutions to leadership.
• Develop internal communication strategies on equity goals.
• Collaborate with Marketing to communicate equity commitments and progress.
• Advise on team structure and job design with continuous improvement.
