Job description

Datadog is a world-class monitoring and security platform for cloud applications. We're dedicated to creating, developing, and supporting our product and customers, fostering seamless collaboration and problem-solving among Dev, Ops, and Security teams globally. Built by engineers for engineers, our SaaS product is trusted by organizations of all sizes across various industries, driving digital transformation, cloud migration, and infrastructure monitoring for our customers' entire technology stacks. As cloud technologies continue to evolve and digital operations become ever more crucial, Datadog remains at the forefront of innovation and is well-positioned for sustained growth.

Datadog's Finance team partners with stakeholders across the organization, providing commercial, operational, and analytical support to ensure that Datadog's business continues its rapid and efficient growth.

The Equity Administration team is responsible for overseeing the full cycle of stock administration on a global basis, collaborating with groups across Accounting, Tax, People, Payroll, and Legal to manage Datadog's equity plans worldwide. Our work spans the processing of equity transactions including RSU releases, stock option exercises, and ESPP purchases; management of equity-related inquiries from employees, executives, investors, and other key partners; day-to-day management of the E*TRADE Equity Edge Online platform; global equity reporting and tax compliance; oversight of equity procedures, policies, and controls; and employee education on equity programs.

We are seeking a hands-on Equity Administration Assistant Manager to own our complex and high-risk equity workstreams.

Reporting to the Senior Manager, Equity Administration, the Assistant Manager will serve as a first level preparer or reviewer on equity transactions, assist with process documentation, and work closely with various internal teams across Accounting, Tax, People Operations, Payroll, and Legal. This is a role for someone who has gone deep on equity administration as an individual contributor and is ready to build leadership capability without stepping away from the technical work.

At Datadog, we place value in our office culture - the relationships and collaboration it builds and the creativity it brings to the table. We operate as a hybrid workplace to ensure our Datadogs can create a work-life harmony that best fits them.

What You'll Do:
  • Assist with the accuracy and timeliness of processing in E*TRADE Equity Edge Online across RSU releases, ESPP purchases, FCPE activity, option exercises, dispositions, and cancellations
  • Oversee completion of high-risk and more complex assigned equity administration areas
  • Serve as a preparer on equity transactions and assist in the review of new equity grants, ensuring to follow proper approvals and controls that are in place
  • Oversee process narratives, procedures, and flow charts, and aid in maintaining the calendars and checklists that keep each equity cycle predictable and audit-ready
  • Assist in driving team initiatives and projects such as system implementations and process changes, focusing on opportunities to leverage automation tools and AI-assisted solutions.
  • Review key financial results and related metrics to be communicated to the finance management team and other stakeholders
  • Coordinate with all departments in the process, including People Operations, Legal, Payroll, Tax, and Accounting
  • Assist with global equity reporting and compliance with international tax and regulatory requirements, including country-specific sub-plans and trustee arrangements
  • Partner with Payroll and Tax to deliver accurate equity income and withholding data in every country where we grant, resolving exceptions and mobile employee allocations ahead of payroll cutoffs
  • Support our control environment in compliance with SOX, including control evidence and responses to internal and external audit requests
  • Support Section 16 officer and director transactions, including Rule 10b5-1 trading plan administration and pre-clearance coordination
  • Interact with various B2B relationships including our stock plan provider, transfer agent, trustees, and local advisors
  • Help design and deliver employee equity education for a global population, including enrollment campaigns, employee inquiries, and self-service resources
Who You Are:
  • 5+ years of equity or stock plan administration experience, including time at a U.S. public company; experience supporting a global employee population is strongly preferred
  • Bachelor's degree required, ideally in Accounting, Finance, Economics, or a related field
  • CEP (Certified Equity Professional) designation preferred, or in progress
  • Deep hands-on experience with a stock plan administration platform; E*TRADE Equity Edge Online strongly preferred
  • Solid command of equity mechanics and the compliance framework around them, including U.S. and international tax withholding and reporting, ASC 718 concepts, Section 16 and Rule 10b5-1, and SOX controls
  • Coachable and willing to learn new concepts in order to keep the team steady and productive through changes in process or direction
  • Works on issues of diverse scope where analysis requires evaluation of a variety of factors, including an understanding of current business trends, and acts as an advisor to team members to meet schedules and resolve technical problems
  • Demonstrated ability to own a complex, deadline-driven process independently and to escalation the right issues at the right time
  • Advanced Microsoft Excel skills; experience automating recurring work (for example, with Google Apps Script, Python, Power Automate, or SQL) is a strong plus
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to translate technical equity and tax concepts into plain language for employees and executives alike
  • Discretion and integrity in handling highly confidential compensation and personal data
  • Experience with Workday, NetSuite, Workiva, FloQast, Tableau and AI tools is a plus
