Job summary

Ultium Cells LLC is seeking an Equipment Technology Engineer, Assembly to join a highly automated battery cell plant. You will drive process improvements, troubleshoot production equipment, and work with cross-functional teams to minimize downtime and boost yield.

The role requires a Bachelor's in engineering, 0–3 years in industrial maintenance, and strong problem-solving, communication, and data-driven reasoning. On-call support may be required.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in engineering or engineering technology.
  • 0 to 3 years industrial maintenance engineering, preferred.
  • Must be able to speak and read English.
  • Driven by objectives/KPIs with accountability to standards.
  • Ability to use data and root-cause analysis to solve problems.

Responsibilities

  • Drive continuous process improvement and maintain machines through teamwork.
  • Design, control, modify and improve equipment.
  • Troubleshoot chronic errors and report major issues with root-cause analyses.
  • Monitor machines to reduce downtime and optimize uptime.
  • Create and update troubleshooting guides and work instructions.
  • Support production and maintenance in solving technical problems.
  • Ensure safety and environmental compliance.
  • Coordinate activities of production, maintenance and inspection staff.
  • Read charts, work orders, and schedules to plan production needs.
  • Develop knowledge in mechanics/electrics/pneumatics and controls.

Job Description

This position will be part of a technical team responsible for engineering work that includes continuous improvement, investigating and troubleshooting equipment/manufacturing/facility problems, analyzing production results, implementing and improving manufacturing methods and processes, and ensuring high yield and productivity in a highly automated manufacturing environment. His/her functions will also include interaction with internal and external customers and external vendors to solve urgent and complex problems by identifying and evaluating alternatives to provide support of all in-plant production as required. Position requires some on-call support.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • An equipment technology engineer ensures continuous process improvement and maintains machines through teamwork and clear communication. Co-work with production and process engineers and relative teams for success in the team’s goals and for future opportunities.
  • Design, control, and provide modification and improvement of the equipment
  • Trouble shooting and solving problems on the chronic errors/trouble
  • Find root cause analysis and reporting of major errors
  • Monitor and ensure running machines continuously to reduce breakdown time
  • Co-creation of documentation of the all the machines - creating and updating trouble shooting, work instructions, identifying problems, providing information about the course of the machine operation/maintenance during a shift and implementing preventive solutions
  • Support for production and maintenance in solving technical problems
  • Ensure compliance to safety and environmental regulations
  • Direct and coordinate the activities of employees engaged in the production or processing of goods, maintenance and inspection personnel
  • Read and analyze charts, work orders, production schedules, and other records and reports to determine production requirements and to evaluate current production estimates and outputs
  • Practical knowledge and willingness to further develop in the area of mechanics / electrics / pneumatics and controls
  • Implements strategies to improve equipment uptime and availability
  • Machine cleaning
  • Additional duties as assigned


Education

  • Bachelor's Degree required, Engineering or Engineering Technology preferred

  • 0 to 3 Years Industrial Maintenance Engineering, preferred
  • Must be able to speak and read English
  • Driven by objectives/KPI’s; consistent; and high personal ownership to upholding accountability to established standards and practices
  • Ability to use logical thinking and decision making by focusing on identifying root cause objectively using data, analyzing production results, and following proven problem-solving methods
