Job summary

Optum is seeking an Equipment Services Technician in Woodinville, WA to support and optimize mail order pharmacy throughput. This onsite role focuses on maintenance, troubleshooting and improvement of automation equipment with a 40‑hour workweek and daytime shifts.

You will work with Automation and Engineering teams, repair diverse equipment, and ensure uptime while adhering to safety and CMMS processes. Training is provided and travel is limited to domestic needs.

Qualifications

  • Must have High School Diploma or GED with 5+ years of experience.
  • Must be 18+ years old and hold a valid state driver’s license.
  • 5+ years in repair, troubleshooting, and maintenance of automated manufacturing or distribution lines.
  • Experience with control logic (Allen-Bradley/Rockwell, HMI, RSLogix 500/5000, Studio 5000).
  • Experience with 3-phase 480V industrial electrical systems and motor control circuits.
  • Ability to travel up to 75% (domestic) and work full-time 40h/week.
  • Experience using CMMS or SAP to maintain work orders and inventory.

Responsibilities

  • Hands-on maintenance, debugging and troubleshooting across Electrical, Mechanical, Pneumatic and PLC systems.
  • Install, set up, troubleshoot, and maintain mail order pharmacy equipment and prototypes.
  • Repair and replace faulty electrical components (motors, relays, switches, servos, VFDs).
  • Maintain programming, diagnose root causes, and implement corrective actions.
  • Record work orders and parts in CMMS; manage spare parts inventories.
  • Collaborate with Engineering and Production Leadership on maintenance and improvement projects.

The Equipment Services Technician coordinates with the Automation team in supporting and optimizing mail order pharmacy throughput and minimizing downtime through the scheduling and completion of routine maintenance, troubleshooting, repair and process improvement strategies. The Equipment Services Technician is also responsible for the completion of planned maintenance for the department and automation equipment readiness.

This position is full time (40 hours / week), Monday - Friday. Employees are required to have flexibility to work any of our shift schedules during our normal business hours of 8:00 am - 5:00 pm.

We offer weeks of on-the-job training. The hours of the training will be based on schedule or will be discussed on your first day of employment.

Primary Responsibilities
  • This is a hands-on position that requires strong debugging and troubleshooting skills within Electrical, Mechanical, Pneumatic and PLCs
  • Install, setup, troubleshoot, and maintain various mail order pharmacy equipment and prototyping / testing new improvement projects
  • Ability to troubleshoot / repair / replace faulty electrical components such as: Motors, relays, switches, servos, VFD, and other sensing devices
  • Effectively maintain programming, troubleshoot, determine root causes of failure, and perform corrective actions
  • Responsible to maintain and repair all the automation dispensing equipment to operate at optimum throughput and minimum downtime
  • Maintain and track records on all PMs and maintenance work orders
  • Ensure to maintain adequate inventories of spare parts, tools and supplies to support production equipment
  • Responsible to record completed work order and parts used within the Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS)
  • Provide support to the Automation team in finding solutions to complex problems
  • Work with Engineering AES Supervisor and production Leadership in prioritizing maintenance activities and improvement projects to minimal impact production goals
  • High proficiency with problem solving and communication skills
  • Work in collaboration with engineering and production leadership on all equipment related issues
  • Report to upper management on equipment condition and status per down call protocol
  • Decisions are guided by policies, procedures, and business plan
  • Comply with safety regulations and maintain clean and orderly work areas

Required Qualifications
  • High School Diploma / GED with 5+ years of experience
  • Must be 18 years of age OR older
  • Must have a valid state issued drivers license
  • 5+ years of experience in the repair, troubleshooting, and maintenance of an automated manufacturing or distribution line
  • Experience with control logic such as Allen-Bradley / Rockwell Software PLC, HMI, RSLogic500 / 5000, and Studio 5000
  • Experience with 3-phase 480 volts industrial electrical systems, electrical wiring, electrical conduit and motor control circuits
  • Experience with maintaining work orders, parts inventory, hours, etc. with computerized systems such as CMMS or SAP
  • Ability to troubleshoot electrical / mechanical/pneumatic issues when they occur on the line including, but not limited to, installation, diagnostic, calibration, maintenance / repair of equipment and electronic devices
  • Ability to perform this role in an office setting or other company location
  • Ability to travel up to 75% of the time (Domestic)
  • Ability to work any of our full time (40 hours / week), shift schedules during our normal business hours of 8:00 am - 5:00 pm from Monday - Friday
Preferred Qualifications
  • 5+ years of experiences with electrical, mechanical maintenance experience within industrial, manufacturing, or automated fulfillment center industries
  • 5+ years of experience working in high volume, multiple shifts, Repacking / Manufacturing environment
  • Experience in the following processes: Descrambling, Labeling, Pill Filling, Capping, Weighting, Sorting, and Packaging
  • Beckhoff PLC experience
  • Experience with Automated Conveyor Lines
  • Experience with eMaint CMMS
  • Knowledge of equipment maintenance program, policies / procedures
  • AC / DC motors and motor controls
  • Experience with Omnicell E3, MTS350 and Autogen
