Job summary

Airgas in Abilene, TX is seeking a Welder Repair Technician to troubleshoot and repair welding equipment distributed by the company. You will perform preventive maintenance, replace parts, and coordinate with the shop team to keep welding systems running safely and efficiently.

The role offers a Monday–Friday schedule, a comprehensive benefits package including medical/dental/vision, 401(k) with company match, tuition assistance, paid holidays and vacation, and early benefits after 30 days.

Qualifications

• Valid Driver License with clean MVR.
• Electrical Schematics experience.
• Ability to troubleshoot and read wire diagrams.
• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Mechanically inclined.

Responsibilities

• Uphold safety policies and use PPE.
• Operate manual, robotic and semi-automatic welding equipment (GMAW, GTAW, SMAW, PAW).
• Work with orbital tube and pipe welding systems.
• Manage high purity bulk and cylinder gas systems.
• Replace defective parts and perform preventive maintenance.
• Source and stock required parts; document repairs.
• Inspect repaired equipment for proper operation and/or damage.
• Keep the shop clean and organized; complete repair paperwork.

Welder Repair toTroubleshoot and make necessary repairs on Welding Systems and products distributed by the company. While ensuring a safe and supportive work environment. This role involves restoring, testing, and maintaining equipment, coordinating parts, and performing preventative maintenance to ensure team and customer success.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

• Committed to upholding company policies including safety and the use of personal protective equipment.
• Manual, robotic and semi-automatic GMAW, GTAW, SMAW, and PAW welding equipment
• Orbital tube and pipe welding systems.
• High purity bulk and cylinder gas systems.
• Integrated welding and motion control systems.
• Replaces defective parts and completes preventative maintenance required.
• Sources and manages parts as required in order to complete repairs.
• Inspects returned equipment for proper operation and/or damage by the customer.
• Utilizes a forklift, pallet jack or other necessary equipment to stock required parts in the shop.
• Ensures a clean and organized work environment at all times.
• Prepares and completes paperwork for all machine repairs.
• Occasionally supports equipment and customers off-site.
• Maintains collaborative communication with all branch personnel.
• Occasionally advises customers regarding the most effective equipment solutions for their projects.

Are you a MATCH?

Required Qualifications:

• Valid Driver License-Clean MVR
• Electrical Schematics Experience
• Ability to troubleshoot and read wire diagrams
• High school diploma or equivalent
• Mechanically Inclined

Preferred Qualifications:

• Post-secondary education equivalent to a one year Technical College or equivalent is a valued asset.
• Knowledge of Welding equipment and generators
