Job summary

Atlas Copco in Grayling, MI is seeking an Equipment Preparation Technician to ensure accurate preparation, packaging, and timely shipment of equipment. You will work in a warehouse environment, handling shipping checklists and assisting in testing equipment prior to dispatch.

Ideal candidates have forklift/crane certification or willingness to obtain, with 50 lb lifting capability and strong attention to detail.

Qualifications

• Forklift and crane certifications required or willingness to obtain within 60 days of hire.
• Prior experience in shipping, receiving, warehouse, or general labor preferred.
• Physical ability to lift up to 50 pounds and perform tasks requiring standing, bending, stooping, and use of power tools.
• Work environment is warehouse/factory with machinery, noise, and variable temperatures.
• Basic computer literacy for handling documentation and inventory records.
• Excellent attention to detail and precision in task execution.
• Strong organizational skills and ability to manage multiple tasks efficiently.
• Commitment to safety protocols, OSHA standards, and proper equipment use.
• Willingness to learn new duties in the Assembly department.

Responsibilities

• Prepare and stage outgoing equipment for shipment, ensuring accuracy.
• Complete and maintain shipping checklists and documentation.
• Assist in testing equipment to verify functionality before shipment.
• Inspect and secure all fasteners, applying match marks to confirm tightness.
• Install guarding, labels, and caution stickers on equipment.
• Collaborate with the shipping department to palletize and secure equipment for transport.
• Support equipment start-up and assist with final testing as needed.
• Perform other related duties to support shipping and logistics operations.
• Schedule: Monday–Friday (some Saturdays) at 45–55 hours per week; subject to change by manager.

Your day-to-day

As an Equipment Preparation Technician, you will play a vital role in ensuring that customer orders are prepared accurately, packaged securely, and shipped on time. Your attention to detail and commitment to process excellence will help maintain the high standards of quality, reliability, and service.

• Prepare and stage outgoing equipment for shipment, ensuring accuracy and readiness.

• Schedule: Due to current workload, work schedule expectations are Monday through Friday (some Saturdays) – 45-55 hours per week. This is subject to change at any time and at manager discretion.

Your Skills And Experience

• Certification Requirements: Certifications in operating forklifts and cranes, or the willingness to complete these certifications within 60 days of hire.
• Prior experience: in shipping, receiving, warehouse, or general labor roles preferred.
• Physical requirements: Meeting the physical demands of the job, including lifting up to 50 pounds and engaging in activities such as standing, walking, bending, stooping, and using power tools throughout the entire shift.
• Work Environment: Comfortable working in a warehouse/factory environment with exposure to machinery, noise, and variable temperatures.
• Basic Computer Skills: Basic computer literacy for handling documentation and inventory records.
• Attention to detail: Precision and carefulness in performing tasks.
• Organizational skills: Good organizational skills to manage tasks efficiently.
• Teamwork: Works effectively both independently and as a collaborative member of the team, contributing to a positive and productive work environment.
• Safety: Demonstrates a strong commitment to all safety protocols, OSHA industry standards, proper equipment use, safe operation of tools and machinery, and consistent use of required protective gear.
• Desire to Learn New Things: Willingness to take on various duties in the Assembly department.
