Job summary

The City of Little Rock is seeking an experienced heavy equipment operator to join the Public Works team. The role involves operating heavy machinery to maintain and repair vital infrastructure, ensuring safety and efficiency. Applicants must hold a valid Arkansas Class A Driver's License and possess relevant operational experience.

Job description

Job Objective:

To operate heavy equipment in constructing, maintaining, and repairing streets, ditches, alleys, and other Public Works projects.

Additional Information:

This position is designated as a safety/security sensitive position and is subject to random drug and alcohol screening.

Knowledge, skills, and abilities are typically acquired through the completion of eighth (8th) grade and one (1) year of experience in operating heavy earth-moving equipment or related equipment. Equivalent combinations of education and experience will be considered.

Additional Requirements:
  • Must possess a valid Arkansas Class A (Commercial Vehicle) Driver's License before employment.
  • Must obtain a valid Arkansas Class A (Commercial Vehicle) Driver’s License without Automatic Transmission “E” or Tractor Trailer “O” restriction and must obtain an N endorsement within 120 days of employment, maintaining licensure and endorsement throughout employment.
  • Must complete the NeoGov leadership learning plan before the end of the six-month probationary period.
