Job summary

Alter Trading Corporation in Madison, WI seeks an Equipment Operator to safely operate and maintain equipment across our yard and processing areas. You will perform inspections, routine maintenance, and follow all safety procedures while contributing to efficient material handling.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Experience with forklifts, tractors, or skid steers preferred.
• Willing to train candidates with relevant industry backgrounds.

Responsibilities

• Perform equipment safety checks according to company checklists.
• Inspect fluid levels and back-up alarms for proper operation.
• Perform daily lubrication and service activities.
• Start and monitor equipment gauges for proper operating conditions.
• Load, unload scrap processing equipment safely.
• Follow shutdown procedures at end of shift.
• Complete and maintain required documentation and records.
• Follow safety, environmental, and work regulations; maintain housekeeping.
• Plan and sequence work to ensure timely completion.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
