Position Overview

The Equipment Operator is responsible for safely operating heavy machinery and equipment to move, position, and transport RVs within the dealership lot, service areas, or storage facilities. This role ensures efficient and damage-free handling of RVs, supports lot organization, and assists with dealership logistics. The Equipment Operator plays a key role in keeping inventory accessible, well-positioned, and ready for customer viewing, test drives, or service appointments.

RV & Equipment Operation

Safely operate forklifts, travel lifts, tractors, or other specialized equipment to move towable and motorized RVs.

Transport RVs between dealership lots, service bays, storage areas, or customer pickup zones.

Assist with the unloading and placement of new inventory upon arrival.

Conduct pre- and post-operation inspections of all equipment to ensure proper functioning.

Maintain accurate records of equipment use, fuel levels, and any maintenance needs.

Lot & Inventory Management

Position RVs in designated areas for display, service, or customer pickup.

Ensure RVs are properly aligned and spaced to maximize lot efficiency and customer access.

Assist in staging RVs for events, promotions, and test drives.

Support dealership staff with vehicle retrieval and placement as needed.

Maintenance & Safety Compliance

Follow all dealership safety procedures and manufacturer guidelines when operating equipment.

Perform routine maintenance checks on equipment and report any necessary repairs.

Ensure that all RVs are moved safely and without damage.

Keep work areas clean, organized, and free from hazards.

Additional Responsibilities

Assist with dealership lot maintenance, including snow removal, lot organization, and minor repairs.

Provide support to service and sales teams with equipment-related tasks.

Other duties as assigned by management.

Requirements

Previous experience operating forklifts, tractors, or other heavy equipment (certification preferred).

Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record.

Ability to safely move and maneuver RVs of varying sizes.

Knowledge of basic equipment maintenance and troubleshooting.

Strong attention to detail and ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment.

Comfortable working outdoors in all weather conditions.

Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and perform physically demanding tasks

Physical Requirements

Ability to stand, walk, sit, kneel, crouch, climb ladders and steps, and balance for long periods.

Must be able to lift and/or move up to 10 pounds regularly, up to 15 pounds frequently, and occasionally lift and/or move up to 25-50 pounds.

Specific vision abilities required include close vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.

Must be able to work in an un-climate-controlled environment for long periods, which may include exposure to varying temperatures, weather conditions, and other environmental factors.

Frequent use of hands and arms to move, handle, and operate equipment, including forklifts and tractors.
