Job Opportunity: Solid Waste Driver

Hickory, North Carolina, is seeking qualified candidates for the position of Solid Waste Driver. Hickory is a well-crafted city located at the foot of the Blue Ridge Mountains, offering a vibrant community with excellent amenities and a strong sense of craftsmanship.

Position Overview

• Operate Class "B" vehicles, including rear packer, automated, front-end loaders, and other trucks.
• Drive predetermined routes for solid waste collection, including refuse, yard waste, and recyclables.
• Perform routine maintenance and ensure vehicle cleanliness and safety.
• Maintain communication with supervisors and dispatchers.
• Work in various weather conditions, including overtime and holidays (excluding Christmas Day).

Minimum Qualifications

• Minimum age of 18 years.
• Class "A" or "B" commercial driver's license.
• High school diploma or GED.
• Ability to read, write, and perform basic math.
• Experience with operating garbage trucks is preferred.
• Ability to lift over 100 pounds and perform physical tasks required for the job.
• Valid driver's license with an acceptable driving record.
