Overview

Responsible for operating various types of light equipment, including but not limited to compact loader, skid steer, loader/backhoe, mini-excavator, <12k forklift, riding compactor, tractors, roller, and water truck to excavate, move and/or grade material.

Responsibilities
  • Promote and comply with all Company and safety policies and procedures
  • Operate gasoline, diesel, pneumatic or electric powered equipment to move objects or material according to project specifications
  • Operate light equipment with knowledge of functions, troubleshooting, mechanical aptitude, and driving skills
  • Use levers and pedals to manipulate equipment for excavation, grading, and material handling
  • Perform maintenance such as cleaning, greasing, and oiling machines
  • Coordinate machine actions with crew signals and move loads safely
  • Check fuel supplies and operate equipment to perform earthmoving tasks
  • Follow load capacity charts and ensure proper equipment support
  • Observe loads and surroundings to prevent injuries and property damage
  • Read and apply operating manuals, plans, and specifications
  • Maintain accurate equipment and maintenance records
  • Inspect field conditions, identify issues, and report problems
  • Ensure equipment is properly operated, maintained, and inspected daily
  • Follow company code of conduct and site policies
  • Work in other crafts as trained and directed
  • Communicate clearly and effectively
  • Travel to different job sites as needed
  • Perform other duties as assigned
Qualifications
Education and Experience
  • High school diploma or GED and 1-3+ years related experience or equivalent
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
  • Prioritize safety and health, working towards Wanzek's Zero Injury goals
  • Flexible working hours, including nights and weekends
  • Ability to read and interpret safety and technical documents
  • Basic math skills for measurements and calculations
  • Operational knowledge of GPS systems and construction materials
Compensation and Benefits
  • Hourly rate: $22.00-$25.00, based on experience
