EXAMINATION IS ANNOUNCED TO SUPPLEMENT THE EXISTING EMPLOYMENT LIST TO FILL VACANCIES IN VARIOUS DEPARTMENTS:

• Four (4) in East Jefferson Water Department
• Five (5) in West Jefferson Water Department
• One (1) in East Jefferson Streets Department
• One (1) in West Jefferson Streets Department
• One (1) in East Jefferson Drainage Department
• One (1) in West Jefferson Drainage Department

This employment list will also be used for future vacancies as they occur.

Position Purpose

The purpose of this position is to safely operate and maintain the Backhoe and other equipment according to safety standards and procedures. Responsibilities include inspecting and maintaining equipment, loading and unloading the Backhoe, and performing labor work when not operating equipment. Additional related duties may be required.

Driver's License Requirements

Current vacancies require driving a Parish vehicle, necessitating a Class A driver's license. Preference will be given to applicants holding a valid Class A license and an acceptable driving record.

Eligibility and Qualifications

1. Current Civil Service employees in Jefferson Parish must possess certification of successful completion of the Jefferson Parish Backhoe Safety Training Program.
2. Other candidates must meet one of the following:
   1. Verifiable experience operating a Backhoe.
   2. Completion of an approved Backhoe operation training course.

Copies of licenses and certificates should be submitted with the application.

Additional Information

This is a non-competitive position. All qualifying applicants will be issued an Employment Eligibility letter and forwarded to the appointing authority when vacancies arise.
