SALARY: up to $21.15 per hour

POSITION SUMMARY:

Operate all park department related light equipment. Transport heavy equipment to and from job sites. Operates heavy equipment when qualified, as needed when heavy equipment operators are unavailable. Performs Park department duties as assigned.

SCHEDULE & RATE:

Monday-Friday, 7:00 am-3:30 pm. Schedule may vary based on operational needs.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

This list represents the types of duties required by the position. Other duties may be assigned as reasonably expected.

  • Operate 4 X 4 trucks with plow, all riding mowers, lawn boys, weed eaters, tractors, flatbed trucks, dump trucks.
  • Assist in all park department projects using light and related equipment.
  • Duties include mowing, hauling, snow plowing, and park related maintenance of all facilities.
  • Open and close facilities as needed.
  • Ability to work with other departments on various projects
  • Other related duties as assigned.
  • Ability to work independently and make necessary work-related decisions
  • Maintain records of daily work.
  • Transport various heavy equipment to job sites using different combination vehicles.
  • Operates backhoe, bobcat, dozer, loader, flail mower as needed.

EDUCATION / QUALIFICATIONS:

  • High School Diploma or equivalent education preferred.
  • 1 years’ experience in operating light and heavy equipment.
  • Any equivalent combination of relative education and experience.

KNOWLEDGE SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

  • Ability to work independently and to complete daily activities according to work schedule.
  • Ability to lift heavy objects, walk and stand for extended periods of time, and to perform strenuous physical labor under adverse field conditions.
  • Ability to communicate orally and in writing.
  • Ability to use equipment and tools properly and safely.
  • Ability to understand, follow and transmit written and oral instructions.
  • Ability to establish effective working relationships with employees, supervisors, and public.
  • Must have knowledge of the park department maintenance and safety procedures.

CERTIFICATES, LICENSE, REGISTRATION:

• Must have Commercial Driver’s License (Class A CDL) Endorsement

EQUIPMENT:

Pickup trucks, miscellaneous hand and power tools, tractors, flatbed trucks, dump trucks, 4 X 4 snow equipment, riding mowers, backhoe, bobcat, loader, dozer, flail mower.
