Join the City of South Bend as a Park Equipment Operator, where you will operate a variety of light and heavy equipment for park maintenance. Your role includes mowing, snow plowing, and transporting equipment. Ideal candidates are physically fit and possess strong communication skills, with a high school diploma or equivalent preferred. A Commercial Driver’s License (Class A CDL) is essential for this role.
SALARY: up to $21.15 per hour
POSITION SUMMARY:
Operate all park department related light equipment. Transport heavy equipment to and from job sites. Operates heavy equipment when qualified, as needed when heavy equipment operators are unavailable. Performs Park department duties as assigned.

Monday-Friday, 7:00 am-3:30 pm. Schedule may vary based on operational needs.

EQUIPMENT:
Pickup trucks, miscellaneous hand and power tools, tractors, flatbed trucks, dump trucks, 4 X 4 snow equipment, riding mowers, backhoe, bobcat, loader, dozer, flail mower.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee constantly works near moving mechanical parts and in outside weather conditions. The employee frequently works in high precarious places and in frequently exposed to wet and/or humid condition, fumes or airborne particles, and vibration. The noise level in the work environment is usually quiet, except when operating power equipment.
