Job summary

The City of Grapevine is seeking a senior Equipment Operator to support street construction, maintenance and repair activities. The role includes operating heavy equipment, overseeing crews, and ensuring safe, efficient project execution.

You will participate in load/unload tasks, equipment maintenance and documentation while training junior workers and coordinating with the team. A valid CDL and clean driving record are required.

Qualifications

• Must have two years of experience in similar field.
• Must obtain a valid Texas Class A CDL license within six months of hire.
• Must pass a Federal/National criminal background check.
• Must pass a pre-employment physical, drug screen, functional assessment screening (Level 1), Titmus vision screening.
• Must pass a pre-employment basic physical, drug screen, functional assessment screening (Level 1).
• Must have a valid Texas Class B CDL license with an acceptable driving record.

Responsibilities

• Senior level worker on independent street projects including repairs, overlays and crack sealing.
• Operate heavier or more complex equipment and supervise workers on assigned projects.
• Operate dump truck, backhoe, jack hammer, paver and related machinery at pre-determined locations.
• Load/unload and operate dump trucks for material and waste transport.
• Perform maintenance, cleaning and routine records of work and equipment used.
• Train subordinate workers in equipment operation and repair procedures.
• Maintain safety through proper barricades and traffic management.
• Ensure regular attendance and professional interaction with the public and coworkers.

Job Summary

Works generally with other Equipment Operators and Street Crew Workers performing various independent street construction, maintenance and repair activities.

Essential Functions

• This position is senior level worker in various independent projects including street repair for pot holes, crack sealing, saw cutting, etc. caused by construction, weather conditions, age, traffic, etc.; overlay with asphalt/concrete; and working on street overlay projects.
• Performs same basic function as Operators I and Street Crew Workers but generally operates the heavier or more complex and specialized equipment and machinery and may have some discretionary responsibility for supervising workers in accomplishing assigned projects.
• Operates jack hammer, dump trucks, backhoe, steel wheel roller, pickup truck, paver, jack hammer, and various power tools at pre-determined locations as assigned.
• Loads, unloads and operates dump truck to haul materials, trash, etc. to and from assigned work locations.
• Performs manual and equipment assisted activities to maintain, repair and construct existing or new streets, curbs and gutters, drainage systems, culverts, parking lots, etc. and records and reports job status and equipment used.
• Trains subordinate workers in equipment operation and repair procedures.
• Performs equipment maintenance and cleaning activities.
• Surveys work site and places barricades appropriately for safe traffic management.
• Keeps simple work records as assigned.
• Performs related duties as directed when such duties are a logical and appropriate assignment to the position.
• Regular and timely attendance are required for this position.
• Interacts professionally and respectfully with the public, coworkers and others in the course of daily work.

Education, Experience And Other Requirements

Must have two years of experience in similar field.

Must pass a Federal/National criminal background check. Must have a valid Texas Class B CDL license with an acceptable driving record as defined by City policy.
