Job summary

Cobb County Government seeks an experienced equipment operator to drive and operate heavy vehicles and machinery for maintenance, utilities, and construction on county property and rights-of-way. The job requires a high school diploma or GED, a valid Class B CDL (Class A may be required), ability to perform physically demanding work, and strict adherence to safety procedures.

Inclement weather may require reporting to non-standard hours.

Qualifications

High school diploma or GED required; two years of equipment operating experience preferred.
Must possess and maintain a valid Class B Commercial Driver's License; some assignments may require Class A and/or endorsements.
Requires physical capability for moderately demanding manual labor and operating heavy equipment.
Safety procedures must be followed; PPE worn; monitor environment and traffic conditions.

Responsibilities

Drive and operate heavy vehicles and equipment for maintenance, upkeep, and construction projects.
Maneuver and position equipment to load, unload, and transport materials and debris.
Operate roll-off trucks, backhoes, bobcats, and mowing tractors as needed.
Perform basic pre-operation checks and routine maintenance; refuel and grease equipment.
Coordinate with supervisor and crews; follow safety protocols and document work orders as required.
