Job Description: Equipment Operator - County Roads and City Projects

Operate equipment involved in the maintenance and construction of County roads and city projects.

Responsibilities:
  1. Operate and/or drive trucks or light equipment.
  2. Perform road maintenance or construction duties while operating equipment.
  3. Transport equipment and supplies as needed.
  4. Control traffic flow at the work site.
  5. Perform routine maintenance on equipment or trucks and report needed repairs.
  6. Perform all other related duties as assigned.

Note: You must fill out the work history and education sections of the application to demonstrate the required years of experience/education or be disqualified.

Minimum Qualifications:
  • High School diploma or GED plus one (1) year of related work experience, OR
  • Five (5) years of related work experience.

Licenses:

  • Current and valid Class C driver's license required upon hire.
  • Class A CDL with tanker endorsement required within eight (8) months of hire.

Additional Requirements:

  • Must pass pre-placement physical examination and DOT drug test.
  • Must provide proof of educational attainment at new hire processing.

Background Checks: Tarrant County conducts background checks, including criminal history, credit reports, motor vehicle records, employment records, and educational verification. A conviction or deferred adjudication is not an automatic disqualification; each case is considered individually.

While performing duties, the incumbent may need to stoop, bend, push, pull, lift heavy objects up to 100 pounds, and may be exposed to hazardous chemicals and extreme weather conditions.
