Qualifications

  • High School Diploma, or GED with 1 to 3 years of manufacturing experience preferred; or Technical Certificate with associated relevant experience.
  • Able to lift up to 35 lbs. and push/pull up to 80 lbs.

Responsibilities

  • Operate automated assembly machines from startup to steady state and complete paperwork (traceability, startup checklist).
  • Perform Level I preventive maintenance tasks.
  • Participate in line changeovers and associated documentation.
  • Set up work orders in electronic batch record, data acquisition, and inventory systems.
  • Pull test samples for QC and move finished goods to totes.
  • Maintain 5S standards in the work area and report issues affecting downtime or quality.
  • Escort to Technician for complex machine issues and ensure proper repairs.

Job description

Equipment Operator II

An Equipment Operator II is responsible for the safe and efficient operation of moderately complex automated assembly machines. This individual will ensure the continued operation of assembly machines through interpretation of and appropriate response to machine faults and through occasional alignment of stations and fixtures. This individual will perform moderately complex, repetitive tasks associated with machine operation and is expected to endure a moderate level of equipment attentiveness. The operator is also responsible for ensuring that medical devices are assembled with the highest quality possible.

Responsibilities
  • Perform start‑up operation from power off/cold state; complete equipment and product paperwork, such as traceability and start‑up checklist.
  • Conduct Level I required preventive maintenance tasks.
  • Participate in changeovers to include line clearance, system transactions, and associated documentation.
  • Perform work order set ups in electronic batch record, data acquisition and inventory management systems.
  • Pull test samples for QC in process inspection, remove completed production from machine and place in finished goods totes.
  • Fill component Hoppers/Bowls as required to maintain production.
  • Perform minor troubleshooting to diagnose machine performance issues; escort to Technician when required to ensure resolution. Perform line clearance activities and return equipment to proper operation.
  • Update hourly production boards with production and efficiency numbers; note issues that prevented goal attainment (downtime, waste, quality, etc.).
  • Submit machine repair tags to identify issues requiring support services.
  • Ensure that product not meeting quality specifications is processed under non‑conformance procedures/requirements.
  • Maintain 5S standards in assigned work areas.
  • Model company values and support strategic initiatives.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned or required.
  • Assure compliance of Company operations to all applicable laws, regulations and standards, good business practices and company documented procedures.
  • Engage others; promote and participate in Environmental, Health and Safety initiatives, focusing on continuous improvement.
Knowledge and Skills
  • Good verbal and written communication skills. Read, write, understand and communicate in English.
  • Understanding of and ability to use computers.
  • Sound judgment for use in machine troubleshooting and product disposition.
  • Good interpersonal skills to facilitate communication at various levels and areas within the organization.
  • Must accurately follow both verbal and written instructions.
Minimum Qualifications, Education & Experience
  • Must be at least 18 years of age.
  • High School Diploma, or GED with 1 to 3 years of manufacturing experience preferred; or Technical Certificate with associated relevant experience.
Work Environment
  • Work involves use of manufacturing equipment or close proximity to equipment. May be exposed to biohazards and/or chemicals.
  • Work environment can range from clean room and proper gowning requirements to a production area that is open, potentially noisy, and with moving equipment.
  • Must be able to lift up to 35 lbs. and push/pull up to 80 lbs.
  • Recurring physical demands include standing, walking, stooping, crouching, climbing, bilateral motion involving hands, wrists, and upper body.
  • Concentrated visual attention to perform checks on products and components.
  • Typically requires travel less than 5% of the time.
