Brays Island Plantation is seeking an Equipment Operator II to operate heavy equipment and support multiple maintenance tasks on site. The role includes operating mowers, dump trucks, front-end loaders, and other heavy gear while adhering to safety standards and procedures.
Candidate should have 1–3 years of experience operating heavy equipment, and possess a high school diploma. Cross-training opportunities and potential for varied assignments at the burn pile in North field are noted.
Serves primarily as a heavy equipment operator. Ensures all programs and services are fulfilled in a manner consistent with the goals and objectives of Brays Island Plantation
1. Position involves climbing, sitting, standing, stooping, kneeling, pushing, shoving, lifting, carrying and moving objects that can weigh up to 100 lbs. This movement can occur throughout the day. Must be able to transport oneself not only to Property Maintenance, but also around the plantation.
2. Able to see well enough to read faint or partially obscured writing or printing, with corrective lenses if needed.
3. Must be able to work extended hours, days, weekends and holidays when necessary.
5. Must possess the proper training and (as applicable) licenses necessary to operate all types of equipment, to include mowers, trenchers, trucks, backhoe, front-end loader, fork lift, and all-terrain vehicles.
6. Ability to express or exchange information by means of the spoken word.
Job Description – Equipment Operator II
1. Must be able to work constructively and cheerfully in an environment that may be stressful due to adversarial situations resulting from the proper performance of the department’s activities.
2. The employee may be required to participate in more than one assignment at a time with frequent interruptions, changes and delays; the employee must be able to remain focused and work effectively, efficiently and cheerfully under such circumstances.
Education: High school graduate or ability to obtain high school diploma or equivalent.
Knowledge: Intermediate level of heavy equipment knowledge preferred.
Skills: Read, speak, comprehend English enough to understand civil plans.
Experience: One to three years experience operating heavy equipment including preventative maintenance skills.
