Job summary

City and County of Denver’s Street Maintenance team is hiring an Equipment Operator I to support maintenance of streets and alleys across the City and County of Denver. You will perform a variety of labor tasks and operate equipment to help keep roadways safe in all seasons.

The role requires a high school diploma or GED, at least two years of general labor experience with six months operating light to medium equipment, and a valid CDL-B with endorsements.

Qualifications

• Education: Graduation from high school or GED/HiSET/TASC.
• Experience: Two years general labor; six months operating light to medium equipment.
• Education/Experience equivalency: additional appropriate experience may substitute for education.
• License/Certifications: Valid CDL-B with appropriate endorsements; keep current.

Responsibilities

• Be part of a paving, milling, or asphalt team.
• Perform semi-skilled and light to heavy physical labor on construction projects.
• Operate weed whackers, snow blowers, remove weeds, etc.
• Operate light to medium sized equipment for maintenance/repair.
• Place and remove barricades and traffic control devices following regulations.
• Perform snow removal duties as needed.
