The County of Volusia is seeking an experienced Equipment Operator I for the Road and Bridge division. This position will be located at various locations throughout Volusia County and involves semi-skilled work in operating less complex equipment to complete road maintenance and drainage tasks. The role includes performing daily safety inspections of assigned equipment before and after use.

Completion of eighth grade and one year of experience with operation and maintenance of commercial light to medium trucks or similar equipment. Equivalent education, training, or experience may be considered. Must possess a valid driver’s license at hire and maintain it, along with a valid Florida driver’s license within 30 days and a Florida CDL Class B within six months of hire.
Mental: Ability to read, comprehend, and communicate operational and safety instructions, perform basic math.
Physical: Heavy work involving lifting up to 75 pounds, reaching, climbing, sitting, and visual acuity for operating vehicles.
Environmental: Outside work with exposure to weather, fumes, noise, dust, and other environmental conditions.
