Equipment Operator I (M) 1st Shift - 617 - Sewer Maintenance

This position offers a rewarding opportunity to combine technical skill with public service. As an Equipment Operator 1 in Sewer Maintenance, you will operate trucks and powered equipment, assisting in maintenance and construction activities. Responsibilities include clearing sewer lines, snow removal, and equipment upkeep, impacting community quality of life. Shift: 1st Shift, 7:30am - 4:00pm, Monday - Friday

**Examples of Work Performed:**

• Minor servicing of equipment (refueling, lubricating, adjusting)
• Operate trucks and assist with loading/unloading
• Operate small tractor, jackhammer, air compressor
• Transport materials like sand, cement, pipes
• Dig ditches, excavate, remove stumps, mow, and perform laboring tasks
• Maintain and set up sewer cleaning equipment
• Locate and uncover manholes
• Back-up operator or assistant to higher-level operators
• Assist in snow removal

**Minimum Requirements:**

• Willingness to work in conditions requiring safety gear and procedures
• Ability to maneuver onto equipment, lift up to 90 lbs, work outdoors in all weather, and tolerate environmental nuisances and noise
• Physical ability to perform tasks like climbing, bending, reaching, standing, and walking up to half a mile
• Respond to after-hours work, including overnight shifts and low-light conditions
• Effective communication skills
• Ability to acquire and maintain Kansas CDL Class B with air brake and tanker endorsements
• Ability to obtain Kansas pesticide certification within one year
• Legal authorization to work in the U.S. without sponsorship

**Experience and Training:**

• Six months of motor vehicle operation experience
• Ability to obtain and maintain CDL and pesticide certification as specified

**Preferred Experience:**

• Utility operation and maintenance experience
• Valid Kansas CDL B with endorsements
• Kansas pesticide certification
