Job summary

Bexar County PA is seeking an Equipment Operator I for the Judson Service Center to operate diverse road-building equipment and support maintenance of County roadways and drainage structures. The role includes performing routine tasks, safety duties, and light repairs under direct supervision.

You will assist in patching, paving, brush removal, and trash disposal, with daily activity logs and potential supervision of Field Maintenance Workers. A valid CDL within 12 months is required.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• 1 year of experience operating light to heavy road construction equipment or equivalent.
• Must obtain Texas Class B CDL with Tank and Air Brakes endorsements within 12 months.
• Must pass pre-employment physical and drug screen.

Responsibilities

• Operates equipment including mowers, shredders, forklifts, sweepers, rollers, and small dump trucks for roadways and drainage work.
• Assists in patching and paving of county streets.
• Cuts brush with chainsaw, brush cutter and pole saw; collects and disposes of trash, brush and dead animals.
• Completes service checks and minor repairs of road equipment.
• Performs safety tasks at construction sites and directs traffic as needed.
• Fills out daily log of work activities.
• On-call 24 hours a day; may work more than 40 hours per week.

## Equipment Operator I - CApply: Public Works Judson Service Center: Full time: Posted Today: JR101053**Job Title**Equipment Operator I - C**Pay Rate Min to Mid Range**$18.34 - $21.55**Time Type**Full time**Summary**Under direct supervision, is responsible for operating and maintaining various types of light to heavy equipment used in the construction and maintenance of County roadways, drainage structures, and associated rights of way; performs various routine construction and maintenance related tasks including those of an unskilled or semi-skilled nature; and performs related duties as required.Description**Duties and Responsibilities*** Operates various types of equipment including, but not limited to, mowers, shredders, fork lifts, sweepers, rollers, and small dump trucks used in construction and maintenance of roadways, drainage structures and parking facilities* Assists in patching and paving of County streets and roadways* Cuts brush with chain saw, brush cutter and pole saw Picks up and disposes of trash, brush and dead animals* Completes service checks, maintenance and minor repairs of various pieces of road equipment* Performs various safety related tasks at construction sites, including installation of various types of traffic control devices and directing traffic* Fills out daily log of various work activities completed* May exercise functional supervision over the Field Maintenance Worker positions* Performs related duties as required**Minimum Qualifications*** Graduation from High School or General Education Development (GED) certificate, and one (1) year experience in operating light to heavy road construction equipment or an equivalent combination of education and experience* Knowledge of the mechanical operations of road construction equipment; knowledge of operation and maintenance of equipment used in road construction, maintenance; and knowledge of safety standards and practices* Skill in the operation of hand tools; skill in performing basic mathematical calculations* Ability to perform minor mechanical repairs; ability to follow verbal and written instructions; ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with co-workers, County employees and the public* Must obtain a valid Texas Class B Commercial Driver's License (CDL) with Tank, and Air Brakes Endorsements within 12-months of employment* Must clear a pre-employment physical and a pre-employment drug screen test* Position is Safety-Sensitive which requires mandatory drug testing prior and random drug testing throughout employment* Must secure and maintain a favorable background investigation and clearance* Required to be on call 24 hours a day* May be required to work more than 40 hours during the workweek
