Position: Equipment Operator I - Brush

Department: Brush

Summary of Position

Under immediate supervision, the Equipment Operator I is responsible for operating light to heavy equipment used for excavation, loading, transferring, or moving dirt, gravel, or other materials. This work supports the maintenance or construction of drainage systems, streets, brush collection, brush chipping, and mowing of City Right of Ways. The role may include exercising functional supervision over assigned staff and operating trucks as needed.

Acceptable Experience and Training

• High school graduation or G.E.D., or equivalent, plus at least one year of experience operating light equipment;
• OR sufficient education to read and write, plus at least two years of experience operating light equipment;
• OR any equivalent combination of experience and training providing the required knowledge, skills, and abilities.

Certificates and Licenses Required

• State of Texas Class B (commercial) driver's license with air brakes;
• Class A (commercial) driver’s license is desirable.

Additional Information

• Starting Pay: $19.11/hour
