Job summary

Smart Sand Inc. in New Town, ND, is seeking an Equipment Operator I to join our Last Mile Solutions team. The role includes unloading sand trucks, operating equipment such as telehandlers and skid steers, and coordinating tasks under supervision. Schedule is 20 days on, 10 days off.

The operator will perform pre-start checks, rig-up safely, and maintain clear communication with supervisors, while contributing to a safety-focused, efficient workflow and mentoring other operators as needed.

Qualifications

• Must maintain a clean Motor Vehicle Record (MVR).
• Must possess a valid driver's license.
• Good judgment is required.
• Adaptable and able to work in a fast-paced environment.

Responsibilities

• 12+ hour shift.
• Punctual equipment readiness: ensure all gear is prepared for pumping operations on schedule.
• Thorough pre-start checks: inspect all fluids and equipment prior to start-up.
• Safe and efficient rig-up: set up equipment safely and efficiently.
• Maintain effective communication with supervisor at all times.
• Operate and maintain equipment; perform basic preventive maintenance and report issues.
• Mentor other equipment operators as needed.
• Adhere to Lockout/Tagout (LOTO) procedures.
• Conduct post-operation site walkthrough and ensure proper shutdown.
• Assist with housekeeping and adapt to other duties as required.
• Duties may evolve over time.

We are a fully integrated frac sand supply and services company, offering complete mine to wellsite proppant logistics, storage, and management solutions to our customers. We produce low-cost, high-quality Northern White frac sand and offer proppant logistics, storage and management solutions to our customers through our in-basin transloading terminal and our SmartSystems wellsite proppant storage capabilities. We provide our products and services primarily to oil and natural gas exploration and production companies and oilfield service companies. We own and operate premium frac sand mines and related processing facilities in Wisconsin and Illinois, which have access to three Class I rail lines, allowing us to deliver products substantially anywhere in the United States and Canada.

We are currently looking for Equipment Operatorsto join our Last Mile Solutions team! Locations in Ohio, West Virginia, and Pennsylvania.

The Equipment Operator operated equipment and unload sand trucks. The position will be under the supervision of the Regional Field Service manager; but will require taking direction from other Smart Sand Managers and team leads. The working schedule is 20 days on, 10 days off.

• Unloading sand truck into unloading drive over conveyor.
• Operates sand unloading or power equipment, such as telehandler and skid steers.
• Uses hand-held mobile radio units to coordinate tasks and resources.
• Performs routine inspection and preventive maintenance on assigned equipment and refers defects or repairs to the supervisor.
• Performs all duties in conformance to appropriate safety and security standards.
• Demonstrates constant commitment to safety, professional behavior, and environmental considerations.
• Performs other duties as assigned.

• Additionally, assists in mentoring other equipment operators in operations.
• LOTO Compliance Adheres to proper Lockout/Tagout (LOTO) procedures.
• Post-Operation Site Walkthrough: Conducts a comprehensive site walkthrough after operations, inspecting all equipment to ensure proper shutdown and adherence to safety protocols.
• Housekeeping and Other Duties: Assists in housekeeping activities before leaving the location and remains flexible to perform other duties as required.
• Acknowledges that duties and responsibilities may evolve over time.
