Job Description

As directed by the supervisor, and observing all safety rules of the company, perform orchard removal and wood grinding related work both manually and/or with the use of the company’s fleet of equipment. Work is performed during early morning hours, during the day, and/or during the night. This position will report to the Field Operations Manager for the Wood Recycling department.

Duties & Responsibilities

Functions include but are not limited to the following. Must be able to move freely between tasks depending on workload, season, etc.

Operating Equipment

Key responsibilities include but are not limited to:

• Perform required pre shift equipment inspections and complete documentation.

• Perform daily greasing of equipment and check all fluid levels.

• Safely operate equipment to perform various activities including, but not limited to tree digging, windrowing, stockpiling, feeding horizontal grinders, feeding trommels, loading on-highway trucks.

• Ensure operation of equipment is within capabilities and limitations.

• Clean or replace engine air filters for equipment.

• Clean equipment of wood debris with use of air compressor

• Report equipment breakdowns, malfunctions, and repairs to management.

• Maintain a clean and safe job site.

• Perform other duties as assigned.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:

• 0-2 years’ experience in equipment operations or a related field.

LICENSES, AND/OR CERTIFICATIONS:

Pay ranges DOE: $18.00/hr. - $21.00/hr.

The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to sit, stand, walk, talk, and hear. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds independently, or 75 pounds with assistance. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, and the ability to adjust focus. Physical exertion is moderate. Frequent moving and stationary position on uneven ground.

Environment
The work environment characteristics described here are representative of those an employee encounters while performing the essential functions of this job. Field work under typical yearly Central Valley California climatic conditions- temperatures, dust, gas, fumes, noise, and sunlight. Frequently works near moving mechanical equipment and outside weather conditions including sun, rain, wind, etc. Frequently drives a company truck. Outside terrain includes walking on uneven ground, occasional soft sand, occasional muddy conditions. Incumbents may be assigned an irregular work schedule, including weekends, early mornings, evenings, and holidays.
