Job summary

Richland County Recreation Commission is seeking an equipment and grounds technician to operate trucks, tractors, and turf mowers, perform landscaping, maintain facilities, and assist with minor repairs. The role requires a valid driver’s license and ability to work weekends.

High school diploma or GED and at least one year of related experience are required. This full-time, non-exempt position offers hands-on outdoor work with a focus on safety and teamwork.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• One year of related work experience with safe operation of tractors, stake body trucks with trailers, and light construction equipment.

Responsibilities

• Operates trucks, tractors, and commercial turf mowers.
• Performs landscaping maintenance (grass cutting, edging, fire ants treatment).
• Maintains grounds (blowing, fences, trash pickup, parking lot lines).
• Drives trucks and delivers equipment/supplies.
• Ensures correct gas/oil mix ratios for equipment.
• Travels within the agency to various locations.
• Transports tables and chairs as needed.
• Performs manual labor when not operating equipment.
• Inspects equipment/vehicles and performs minor repairs.
