Job summary

The State of Alaska DOT&PF, Southcoast Region, seeks an Equipment Operator Foreman 1 in Akutan to supervise a 6-person crew and direct daily operations for airport and highway maintenance. This role involves snow/ice control, surface repairs, vegetation and drainage work, and coordinating with agencies.

The ideal candidate will have a Class A CDL with N-Tanker endorsement, a valid Alaska driver’s license, and 2+ years in highway or airport maintenance. CDL may be required for some duties.

BASE SALARY INFORMATION:

Equipment Operator Foreman 1: $38.21 / hourly (OT Eligible)

WHAT YOU WILL BE DOING:

SPECIAL NOTE:

• Wildlife management training, airport fueling, First aid, CPR.
• Class A CDL w/Tanker endorsement (49 CFR Part 383.93). If required, Foreman may need Haz Mat Endorsement (49 CFR Part 383.35).
• Participate in a pre-employment drug test and in a random drug and alcohol testing program for the term of employment (49 CFR 383.72).
• Must have a current valid driver`s license (Alaska Statutes Title 28, Motor Vehicles, Section 28.15.011).

Class A Commercial Driver's License and qualified to operate all equipment at the duty station. Knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform the work. Two years of experience in the maintenance and repair of highways or airports.

Some positions may require a First Aid, ETT, CPR, or First Responder certification.

Some positions require Hazardous Materials training and American Traffic Safety Services Association training.

Some positions may be required to use a firearm or ammunition and are therefore subject to Title 18, United States Code, Section 922(g)(9) which prohibits persons who have ever been convicted of a misdemeanor crime of domestic violence from owning, possessing, or using a firearm or ammunition.

Incumbents of positions that require a Commercial Driver’s license are subject to drug and alcohol testing in accordance with federal regulations.

COMMERCIAL DRIVER'S LICENSE REQUIRED

This position requires the incumbent to possess a Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) per federal regulations (49 CFR 383), to register with the federal CDL Drug & Alcohol Testing Clearinghouse prior to performing safety sensitive duties, and to provide consent to the Employer to review driver information in accordance with 49 CFR 382.

• Class A Alaska Commercial Driver's License (CDL) with N-Tanker endorsement is required at time of hire.

Selected candidates must comply with the DOT&PF Drug and Alcohol Policy and procedures and CANNOT start work in a Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) position until management Services or designee has received confirmation of the proposed appointee passing the required Pre-Employment drug test. According to federal regulations, all violations and refusals will be maintained with the Federal CDL Drug & Alcohol Testing Clearinghouse database.
