Job summary

The Alaska Department of Transportation and Public Facilities in Nome is seeking an Equipment Operator Foreman 1 to lead a crew and maintain state highways and general aviation airports year-round.

This role requires a Class A CDL, requires two years of relevant experience, and is open to Alaska residents only. You will plan, schedule, direct daily maintenance, and operate heavy equipment as needed.

• Class A Commercial Driver's License and qualified to operate all equipment at the duty station.
• Two years of experience in the maintenance and repair of highways or airports.
• Some positions may require a First Aid, ETT, CPR, or First Responder certification.

What you will be doing:

As the Nome Maintenance Station Foreman, this position will lead a crew of six full-time and three seasonal employees in maintaining state highways and general aviation airports year-round. The position plans, schedules, directs, and monitors daily maintenance activities, adjusts crew assignments as needed, and ensures work is completed safely and in compliance with applicable requirements. When needed, the position also operates heavy-duty equipment and works alongside the crew to keep the assigned area operating safely and efficiently.

Minimum Qualifications

Class A Commercial Driver's License and qualified to operate all equipment at the duty station. Knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform the work. Two years of experience in the maintenance and repair of highways or airports.

Special Note:

Some positions may require a First Aid, ETT, CPR, or First Responder certification.

Some positions require Hazardous Materials training and American Traffic Safety Services Association training.
