Job summary

Kokosing is recruiting an Equipment Operator for heavy civil construction projects in the Richmond, Virginia area. The role requires operating excavators and dozers, with prior five years of related experience, and a safety-certified background.

Will work on highway and bridge tasks and support trench work as needed. The ideal candidate will perform routine maintenance, follow site signals and instructions, and operate safely in a dynamic job site environment.

Qualifications

• Minimum five years related experience and/or training.
• Certified or approved by Safety Department or Competent person. Must pass practical test.
• Experience with heavy civil construction equipment.

Responsibilities

• Checks all fluids before starting engine.
• Works as needed on pipe/utility crews - work safely inside a trench box.
• Works as needed on heavy highway and bridge projects - moving or placing materials.
• Receives written or oral instructions from supervisor.
• Performs routine maintenance such as lubricating, fueling, and cleaning.
• Observes and understands markings on ground, hand signals, or grade stakes.
• Operates equipment in safe and responsible manner.
• When Operator work is not available, works with and assists crews by performing other duties as requested.
