Job Summary

The Equipment Operator is responsible for routine manual work as a member of a maintenance crew. The role involves heavy physical labor and outdoor work in noisy and varying environmental conditions.

Essential Job Functions

• Operate front-end loader, tractor backhoe, and other equipment;
• Operate mowers, string trimmer, blower, edger, chainsaw, and yard vacuum;
• Load and unload items such as stone, gravel, dirt, asphalt, pipe, timber, and heavy mechanical equipment;
• Assist in semi-skilled tasks by handling tools, carrying or lifting lumber, and mixing concrete;
• Perform meter maintenance, including repairs, testing, and replacement of water meters; install new service lines for new properties;
• Assist in storm drain pipe installation and catch basin construction;
• Maintain and repair equipment;
• Perform housekeeping duties on maintenance vehicles and equipment;
• Perform other related duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Education and Experience: High School Diploma or GED and two years of related work experience.

Special Qualifications: Valid Georgia Driver's License required; CDL preferred.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

• Knowledge of department practices and policies;
• Effective organization and communication skills.

Physical Demands

The work is medium exertion, requiring the ability to lift up to 50 pounds occasionally, 30 pounds frequently, and 10 pounds constantly.
