Job summary

STRATA Networks is Utah’s largest independent telecommunications provider, delivering fiber and telecom services across the region. We are seeking a dependable Equipment Operator to support capital projects with hands-on construction work in Roosevelt, UT.

This full-time role requires operating excavators, backhoes, and trenching equipment, performing manual labor, and maintaining safety on busy sites while coordinating with crews and supervisors.

Qualifications

• An active CDL and clean driving record.
• Ability to interpret construction plans.
• Strong safety and quality focus.
• Good communication, teamwork and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
• Basic computer skills.
• Ability to pass a drug screening.
• Willingness to work varying hours, including weekends, holidays, on-call, and extended hours.
• Ability to travel and work out of town as needed.

Responsibilities

• Operate equipment including mini excavators, backhoes, micro-trenchers, vibratory plows, and other construction equipment.
• Perform manual labor including shoveling, hydro-vac work, and pulling conduit.
• Excavate, trench, backfill, grade, and install conduit and cable.
• Load, unload, and haul equipment and materials according to applicable laws and UDOT guidelines.
• Complete daily equipment inspections and routine maintenance.
• Maintain a safe work site for employees and the public.
• Communicate project updates and job-site conditions with supervisors and team members.
• Maintain accurate project redlines and equipment records.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Salary Range: $30.00 To $35.00 Hourly

STRATA Networks is seeking a dependable and safety-focused Equipment Operator to support telecommunications and fiber optic construction projects. This hands-on position operates construction equipment while performing excavation, trenching, backfilling, grading, material handling, and conduit installation.

Key Responsibilities

• Operate equipment including mini excavators, backhoes, micro-trenchers, vibratory plows, and other construction equipment.
• Perform manual labor including shoveling, hydro-vac work, and pulling conduit.
• Excavate, trench, backfill, grade, and install conduit and cable.
• Load, unload, and haul equipment and materials according to applicable laws and UDOT guidelines.

Work Environment and Conditions

• Outdoor construction work in all weather conditions.
• Exposure to heat, cold, dust, mud, rain, snow, and traffic.
• Strenuous work in potentially hazardous construction environments.
• Extended hours during peak construction season, with days potentially reaching 15 hours.

Physical Demands

• Ability to perform strenuous physical work and lift over 100 pounds.
• Ability to operate hand tools and heavy equipment.
• Ability to enter and exit trenches, manholes, and vaults.
• Ability to perform manual labor throughout the workday.
