Job description

Essential Functions:

  1. Operate heavy, material-moving construction equipment to ensure safe, efficient and productive movement of aggregate material.
  2. Perform field engineering, welding, fabrication, major repairs and service of all plant equipment in conjunction with the plant operator to maintain high safety and production standards of aggregate production facility.
  3. Must follow proper GOH/MSHA safety practices and procedures.
  4. Conduct pre and post shift plant and equipment inspections.
  5. Perform as a team member.
  6. Utilize small hand and power tools, torches and welding equipment.
  7. Perform fabrication and field engineering requirements.
  8. Rebuild various crushers and screens including bearings, brass and wear parts.
  9. Exercise proper care and maintenance of company equipment.
  10. May be required to travel to other job locations.
  11. Frequently work more than 40 hours per week and non-traditional hours including night shift, Saturdays and occasionally Sundays.
  12. Perform additional assignments per supervisor’s direction.
  13. Assist with maintenance and housekeeping in and around plant area which consists of shoveling, hosing, general cleanup and operation of light equipment.
  14. Assist Plant Operator to maintain high safety and production standards and with daily preventative plant maintenance including plant greasing, screen changes, belt splicing, replacing drive belts.

Knowledge of:

  1. Safe operation of mobile equipment such as braking systems and emergency steering.
  2. Moving plant machinery parts and the dangers they pose. Individual must possess skills in fabrication and plant maintenance.
  3. Extensive knowledge of MSHA regulations.

Ability to:

  1. Demonstrate safe working practices.
  2. Learn and follow GOH company policies and procedures.
  3. Operate light equipment such as skid steers and water trucks.
  4. Skillfully use cutting torches and welding equipment.
  5. Demonstrate effective problem solving abilities and field engineering.
  6. Demonstrate self-motivation and work without direct supervision.
  7. Identify potential problems and hazards and assist in repairs.
  8. Communicate effectively.

Qualifications:

  1. Any combination of education and experience that would provide the knowledge to perform the essential functions.

Education:

  1. Minimum of a High school diploma or equivalent required.
  2. Certificate or degree in heavy equipment operation preferred.

Experience:

Applicants may be considered for equipment operator 1, 2, 3, or 4 depending on relevant experience.

  1. Constant (67-100%)- Ability to sit for extended periods of time.
  2. Constant (67-100%)- Ability to climb stairs and ladders.
  3. Constant (67-100%)- Ability to wear required personal protective equipment.
  4. Constant (67-100%)- Ability to enter and exit equipment safely.
  5. Occasionally (0-33%)- Ability to work in field environments with exposure to dust, inclement weather conditions, extreme heat, noise, vibrations, and a variety of petroleum products.
  6. Occasionally (0-33%)- Ability to shovel.
  7. Occasionally (0-33%)- Ability to walk and work on uneven terrain.
  8. Occasionally (0-33%)- Ability to lift up to 50 pounds.
