DESCRIPTION OF WORK

As an Equipment Operator A, you will perform a variety of duties relating to the operation of equipment used for transportation of patients, construction, and maintenance work. Your duties will include operating cars and wheelchair vans, as well as transporting items such as food, medicine, equipment, laundry and any other items required. In this position, you will perform safety checks on equipment, operate snowplows and salt spreaders, and operate groundskeeping equipment. You can expect to perform manual labor using hand tools and perform minor repairs. Additionally, you will demonstrate proper operation of equipment and attend training as required.

Work Schedule and Additional Information:

  • Full-time employment
  • Work hours are as follows: 7 days working 12:00 PM to 8:00 PM with 2 weekend days off, then 3 days working 7:00 AM to 3:00 PM with 2 weekdays off.
  • Overtime as needed and subject to emergency call-in
  • Travel as needed
  • Telework: You will not have the option to telework in this position.
  • Salary:In some cases, the starting salary may be non-negotiable.

Required Experience, Training & Eligibility

QUALIFICATIONS

Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:

  • Six months experience in the operation and maintenance of large vans, buses and single-chassis trucks with a gross vehicle weight of 10,001 pounds or more;or
  • Any equivalent combination of experience and training.

Special Requirements:

  • You must possess of a valid Class C Pennsylvania driver's license.

Other Requirements:

  • You must be able to perform essential job functions.

  • A conditional offer of employment will require a medical examination.
  • This position falls under the provisions of the Older Adult Protective Services Act.
    • Under the Act, a conditional offer of employment will require submission and approval of satisfactory criminal history reports, including but not limited to, PA State Police and FBI clearance.
