The City of West Allis Department of Public Works is seeking a 3rd Shift Equipment Operator to operate heavy equipment and support snow removal and street maintenance. You will work overnight, handling tasks that keep the city running and safe, with state‑of‑the‑art equipment and a comprehensive benefits package.

The role requires 2–3 years of front‑end loader experience, a Wisconsin CDL (Class B or C with air brakes), and a willingness to obtain a Tanker endorsement within 12 months.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• 2–3 years of experience operating front‑end loaders.
• Valid Wisconsin CDL (Class B or C with air brakes).
• Tanker endorsement within 12 months of hire.
• Good driving record per City policy.

Responsabilités

• Operate a variety of equipment including trucks, loaders, street sweepers, and salt spreaders.
• Assist with snow removal operations and apply salt/sand.
• Perform routine manual labor related to equipment operation and maintenance.
• Maintain accurate work records and generate related reports.
• Work in all weather conditions, including extreme temperatures, odors, noise and dust.

What You'll Do

• Operate a variety of equipment and machinery, including:
  • Trucks and tandem vehicles
  • Large rubber‑tired end loaders
  • Street sweepers
  • Snow blowers for front‑end loaders
  • Dickey‑John salt spreading systems
  • Refuse and recycling packers
• Assist with snow removal operations, including applying salt and sand.
• Perform routine manual labor related to equipment operation, construction, maintenance, and service activities.
• Maintain accurate work records and compile related reports.
• Work in various weather conditions, including temperature extremes, odors, noise, and dust.
