Job Description:

Parsons is seeking a talented Heavy Equipment Operator to join our team. This role involves travel to various sites for installation work, with 100% travel required.

The Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) awarded Parsons the Technical Support Services Contract 5 (T5), a $1.8 billion+ contract supporting FAA’s modernization efforts across the nation, including site selection, engineering, construction, environmental, fire/life safety, equipment installation and testing, CAD, and other technical services. The contract involves work across FAA’s nine regions, the Aeronautical Center in Oklahoma City, the Technical Center in Atlantic City, and U.S. territories. The team supports this contract with an average staff of 400-500 personnel, peaking over 650, including subcontractors.

What You'll Be Doing:

  • Installing duct banks (GRS or PVC) from local telco pedestals to FAA facilities.
  • Installing underground telco vaults/hand-holes.
  • Performing splice repairs on underground fiber-optic or copper cables damaged during construction.
  • Operating underground cable and utility location equipment.
  • Creating wall penetrations up to trade size 4”.
  • Conducting site restoration activities: ground compaction, grading, gravel spreading, grass reseeding.
  • Ensuring personnel are certified in asbestos abatement (<1 sq ft) and lead-based paint drilling.
  • Climbing ladders under 10 feet, lifting up to 50 lbs.
  • Preferred but not required: familiarity with construction equipment such as Jumping Jacks, Dingo movers, vibrating plate compactors, excavators, skid steers, mini-excavators.

What Required Skills You'll Bring:

  • Experience maintaining, operating, and coordinating heavy machinery (excavator, backhoe, skid steer).
  • Ability to perform repetitive tasks like lifting, bending, standing.
  • Minimum 5 years of experience operating heavy equipment.
  • Ability to prepare and manage electronic expense reports.
  • Excellent communication skills and familiarity with PC software related to engineering and construction.
  • Ability to obtain an active credit card.
  • Strong safety and quality background.
  • Ability to interface with clients and enjoy hands-on technical work.
  • Ability to meet security requirements, including background checks.

Desired Skills:

  • Effective communication.
  • Preparing daily activity notes.
  • Timely completion of expense reports and timecards via electronic systems.
  • Collaborating with office staff and acting as a company representative on-site.
  • Following project plans, safety, and quality protocols.
  • Monitoring construction activities and reporting progress and issues.
  • Attending weekly project meetings.
  • CPR/First Aid/AED and OSHA certifications are preferred.
