Job Description
- Req#: 3846872 Reporting to the Recycling Operations Supervisor, the Equipment Operator I (Recycling) performs general labor skills and provides support with light and heavy equipment in Recycling and Resource Recovery Operations.
This casual call position is non-benefit eligible. The current shift is 2nd shift, 2:30 pm-12:30 am, Monday - Friday, with hours and shifts varying based on operational needs. The role involves working primarily in the Material Recycling Facility, including occasional holidays and weekends. Work includes on-site projects, absence coverage, or daily duties, with advance notification for shift changes.
Key Responsibilities
- Receive training on loaders, roll off trucks, forklifts, conveyors, and other equipment.
- Operate equipment such as roll off trucks at various locations supporting recycling and resource recovery programs.
- Operate recycling commodity balers for materials like paper, plastics, and metals.
- Support transfer station operations by loading transfer trucks.
- Perform manual tasks using hand tools like shovels, rakes, and brooms.
- Maintain cleanliness of equipment, vehicles, and facilities.
- Service and perform minor repairs on equipment, with mechanic support as needed.
- Complete records of time, materials, and equipment used.
- Conduct daily pre-trip inspections and routine maintenance.
- Assist with training on various landfill and equipment operations as needed.
- Perform traffic control and general grounds upkeep.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or G.E.D.
- General labor skills and apprentice-level equipment operation experience.
- Successful completion of a Post Offer Pre Employment Examination (POPE).
- Within one year, obtain a valid Wisconsin Commercial Driver's License Class B with endorsement N (Tanker) and ability to operate CMVs with Air Brakes; on-site training provided.

- Operate machinery requiring good vision and communication skills.
