Job summary

Martin Marietta currently seeks a motivated individual to join the Des Moines Portable Team. The role involves operating heavy equipment such as haul trucks, graders, water trucks and cranes to move materials safely from pit to plant around Central Iowa and Eastern Nebraska.

The position is based in Winterset, IA with travel responsibilities and a 3-day work week. It offers competitive hourly wages, drive time pay, mileage pay and $175 per diem.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Must have a valid drivers license.
• Experience is a plus but will train the right candidate.
• Bi-lingual is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Operate a variety of heavy equipment including haul truck, motor grader, water truck and crane.
• Assist in plant repairs and cleanup.
• Perform pre-shift safety inspections on equipment.
• Perform preventative maintenance and report needed repairs to shop personnel.
• Maintain good housekeeping of equipment.
• Adhere to MSHA and plant safety rules and regulations.
• Perform duties with minimum supervision.

Job description

Martin Marietta is currently looking for a motivated individual to join our Des Moines Portable Team. This position will have the opportunity to operate a variety of heavy equipment to include haul truck, motor grader, water truck, crane, etc. to bring raw materials from pit to plant in a safe and efficient manner at maximum loading capacity. This position will be based out of Winterset, IA but will travel around Central Iowa and Eastern Nebraska to help other plants with production.

This position is paid a competitive hourly wage as well as drive time pay, mileage pay and $175per diem pay.

Essential Functions

• Must be able to or willing to learn to operate all other mobile equipment, including: haul truck, motor grader, water truck, loader and crane
• Assist in plant repairs and clean-up
• Perform pre-shift safety inspection on equipment
• Perform preventative maintenance and service mobile equipment. Report needed repairs to shop personnel
• Responsible for good housekeeping of equipment
• Adhere to MSHA and plant safety rules and regulations
• Perform duties with minimum supervision

Minimum Education and Experience

Working Conditions

Larger equipment is typically air conditioned. There will be times when outside assignments that may require periods of work in all weather conditions-heat, cold, wet or dry. May have exposure to dust, sand, gravel, diesel exhaust, etc.
