Job description

Equipment Operator/Splicer

Centric Fiber is a start-up telecommunications company aiming to disrupt the market by providing the fastest and most reliable cable, internet, and TV services. Centric Fiber partners with home builders to install high-quality fiber infrastructure during early development stages, ensuring all homes in a community are pre-wired for high-speed fiber internet without additional costs or complications.

The Equipment Operator/Splicer is responsible for operating the mini excavator and assisting the Splicer in terminating, splicing, bonding, and grounding fiber optic cables within the fiber optic networks and related equipment, with the goal of maximizing operational efficiency.

RESPONSIBILITIES/ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

1. Assist the Splicer with daily operations.
2. Splice fiber optic cables.
3. Troubleshoot and perform maintenance to resolve signal issues.
4. Operate technical and heavy equipment.
5. Read and interpret work prints and splice diagrams.
6. Familiarize with digging plans, machine capabilities, limitations, and safe digging procedures.
7. Follow hand signals, grade stakes, and markings when operating machinery to meet specifications.
8. Operate machinery for activities such as backfilling, breaking rock or concrete, and creating winter roads.
9. Maintain detailed records of work activities.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

Education/Experience:

• High School Diploma or GED
• Valid Driver's License
• Proficiency with hand tools
• Knowledge of relevant skills; training will be provided for the right candidate
• 1-2 years of experience operating heavy machinery
• Experience in shoot/cut grade

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

• Effective communication skills for customer interactions
• Organized, detail-oriented, with multi-tasking ability
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office and computer skills
• Outgoing, positive, and user-friendly interpersonal skills
• Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously

Preferred Qualifications:

• Experience in a startup environment

• Bilingual in Spanish
