Job summary

B&S Site Development is seeking a Heavy Equipment Operator to safely operate excavators, loaders, backhoes, dozers, and other machinery on our Virginia projects. You will prepare sites, excavate trenches with precision, and coordinate with crews to keep utilities installations moving on schedule.

You will follow site safety protocols, inspect and fuel equipment, perform routine maintenance, and report incidents to the foreman.

Qualifications

• Operate heavy equipment safely including excavators, loaders, backhoes, dozers and similar gear.
• Precisely excavate trenches for utilities and assist in storm/water/sewer work.
• Follow site safety protocols and report injuries or hazards promptly.
• Communicate with crew to clarify project specs and plan tasks.
• Inspect, fuel and perform routine maintenance on equipment; maintain readiness for shifts.

Heavy equipment operators handle motorized machines such as bulldozers, excavators, track loaders, rollers, and dump trucks. The heavy equipment operator's duties include preparing and manipulating heavy equipment to ensure the appropriate movement of materials and liaising with coworkers to ensure that the projects are completed accurately. You will be required to conduct your duties in a safe, diligent manner at all times.

• Communicating with coworkers to elucidate project specifications, as needed.
• Reporting injuries and other accidents to the Foreman and Job Superintendent.
• Examine schedules for the day and establishes the best way of completing given task
• Advising the Foreman of requisite upgrades, repairs, and replacements.
• Inspects and fuels vehicle prior to beginning shift.
• Perform routine maintenance and repairs.
• Performs other related duties as assigned.
