Summary/Job Scope - Equipment Operator

Purpose of Position: Under the immediate direction of a supervisor, the Equipment Operator safely operates plant mobile heavy equipment, including yard loader, excavator, water truck, 40-ton haul truck, etc.

Key Responsibilities:

• Must be able or willing to learn to operate all other mobile equipment, including yard loader, excavator, water truck, loader, haul truck, and crane.
• Assist in plant repairs and clean-up.
• Perform pre-shift safety inspections on equipment.
• Perform preventative maintenance and report repair needs to shop personnel.
• Maintain good housekeeping of equipment.
• Adhere to MSHA and plant safety rules and regulations.
• Perform duties with minimal supervision.
• Read equipment operating manuals.
• Complete pre-shift inspection reports.
• Communicate in English via radio or CB.
• Possess basic mathematical skills to complete daily reports.
• Wear all required safety equipment.
• Perform duties safely.
• Read and interpret gauges.
• Work effectively as part of a team.

Qualifications and Education:

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Prefer 3-5 years' experience operating heavy mobile equipment.
• Prefer experience with wheel loaders.
• Prefer experience loading customer trucks.
