Equipment Operator (Construction)

The Equipment Operator is responsible for moving vessels within the facility for haul & launch, work, storage, or sales. This role also involves inspecting, repairing, and maintaining equipment. Titles may vary based on specialization, such as Equipment Operator (Service), Storage, or Marina.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

• Operate heavy equipment including marine forklifts, travel lifts, and hydraulic trailers.
• Operate machinery efficiently and safely to move vessels in and out of water or to designated areas.
• Inspect, maintain, and repair equipment to ensure operational readiness.
• Perform yard work such as pressure washing, bottom painting, and vessel blocking.
• Assist with ground maintenance and marina cleanliness.
• Work overtime as required.
• Perform other duties as assigned by the Manager.

Safety and Environmental Responsibilities

• Follow SHM safety and environmental policies and complete related training.
• Wear appropriate personal protective equipment.
• Report accidents, injuries, spills, and near misses immediately.

Technical and Physical Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• 2-3 years relevant experience preferred.
• Heavy forklift experience and certification required.
• Ability to ascend/descend ladders, work in all weather and confined spaces, and lift 50 pounds.
• Basic boat handling skills preferred.
• Valid driver’s license required.
