KEMRON Environmental Services, Inc. is seeking an Equipment Operator to support environmental remediation, earthwork, construction, and site development projects.

You will safely operate excavators, bulldozers, loaders, and other heavy equipment to complete grading, backfill, and site work in Pascagoula, MS. The role requires strong mechanical knowledge, ability to read blueprints, and adherence to safety procedures in varied field conditions.

Qualifications

• Minimum five years of experience operating heavy equipment, including at least two years in environmental construction.
• Valid state drivers license with acceptable driving history per company requirements.
• Able to perform basic arithmetic and complete required written documentation.
• Knowledge of heavy-equipment operating principles, capabilities, and safety practices.
• Working knowledge of environmental remediation and construction methods and safety hazards.

POSITION SUMMARY:

KEMRON Environmental Services, Inc. is seeking a skilled Equipment Operator to support environmental remediation, earthwork, construction, and site-development projects. The Equipment Operator safely and efficiently operates a variety of heavy equipment used for excavation, loading, clearing and grubbing, backfilling, grading, compaction, road construction, landfill cap construction, and other site activities required to complete project work. Equipment may include excavators, bulldozers, loaders, motor graders, rollers, scrapers, articulated trucks, industrial tractors, and other heavy equipment based on the operator’s qualifications and project requirements.

The Equipment Operator must understand equipment capabilities and limitations, perform routine inspections and preventive maintenance, maintain equipment in safe operating condition, and identify and report equipment defects or needed repairs. The position requires the ability to work safely and efficiently in varying field conditions while meeting project specifications, grades, and production requirements.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES/FUNCTIONS OF POSITIION:

• Safely operate multiple types of heavy equipment of various sizes and capacities.
• Excavate, load, move, grade, compact, backfill, clear, and grub soil, gravel, contaminated material, debris, and other materials as required.
• Establish required grades, slopes, elevations, and cuts within acceptable tolerances.
• Read and interpret grade and slope stakes, construction specifications, plans, and blueprints; utilize GPS or laser‑guided grade‑control systems when required and qualified.
• Perform routine equipment inspections and preventive maintenance, including checking fluids, greasing, cleaning equipment, and reporting defects or needed repairs.
• Follow daily procedures, project work plans, KEMRON Standard Operating Procedures, and site‑specific safety requirements.
• Assist with traffic‑control activities and other field support duties when required.
• Work safely around personnel, vehicles, and other equipment and promptly report incidents, unsafe conditions, or equipment concerns.
• Perform other related project duties as assigned.

REQUIRED EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE & SKILLS:

• Minimum five (5) years of experience operating heavy equipment, including at least two (2) years related to environmental construction.
• Must possess a valid and appropriate state driver's license with an acceptable driving history that meets KEMRON's vehicle insurance requirements.
• Sufficient education, training, and experience to perform basic arithmetic calculations and complete required written documentation.
• Considerable knowledge of heavy‑equipment operating principles, capabilities, limitations, and safe operating practices.
• Working knowledge of methods, materials, tools, and equipment used in environmental remediation and construction.
• Working knowledge of hazards and safety precautions associated with heavy‑equipment operations.
• Ability to safely operate equipment under varying terrain, weather, and site conditions and achieve required grades and specifications.
• Ability to understand and carry out written and verbal instructions and work from construction specifications, plans, blueprints, grade stakes, and other project information.
• Ability to exercise sound judgment, remain alert and observant of changing site conditions, work cooperatively with other site personnel, and maintain dependable attendance.

WORK ENVIRONMENT AND PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

• Work is primarily performed outdoors at construction and environmental remediation sites and may involve extreme weather, wet or humid conditions, dust, mud, vibration, hazardous materials, moving equipment, and loud noise.
• Must have sufficient vision and coordination to safely operate heavy equipment using hand and foot controls.
• Must remain alert and aware of surrounding personnel, equipment, vehicles, and changing site conditions.
• Must be able to sit and operate heavy equipment for prolonged periods and safely enter and exit equipment throughout the workday.
• Must be able to work safely over uneven terrain and perform occasional manual work as required.
• Must frequently lift and/or move up to 10 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 75 pounds.
• Must be able to wear required personal protective equipment.

SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS:

• 40-hour OSHA HAZWOPER training preferred unless required by the assigned project.
• Current 8-hour HAZWOPER refresher may be required based on project assignment.
• Must complete required medical monitoring and respiratory‑clearance requirements when applicable to assigned work.
• Additional project‑specific safety or equipment training may be required.
