Job summary

KEMRON Environmental Services in Chattanooga, TN seeks a Construction Site Supervisor to lead daily field operations on environmental remediation and construction projects. You will supervise on-site staff and subcontractors, maintain schedules, enforce the Site Health and Safety Plan, and report progress to the Project Manager.

Applicants should have at least 3 years in field supervision, experience in earthwork or environmental construction, and HAZWOPER training.

Qualifications

  • 3+ years in a supervisory field role (Construction Site Supervisor/Foreman).
  • HAZWOPER 40-hour training is required.
  • Experience in environmental remediation or heavy civil construction preferred.
  • Must have a valid driver's license and ability to travel to project sites.

Responsibilities

  • Supervise daily field activities for on-site employees and subcontractors.
  • Serve as the on-site contact for the Project Manager regarding progress, schedule, staffing, safety, quality, and field issues.
  • Ensure compliance with project plans, specifications, SOPs, and safety requirements.
  • Maintain project schedule by planning daily work and coordinating resources.
  • Prepare and submit daily, weekly, and monthly field reports (labor, equipment, subcontractor activity, production, safety, incidents).
  • Track time, quantities, and supporting documentation; assist in budget monitoring and cost control.
  • Enforce safety practices and lead tailgate safety meetings; ensure incident reporting procedures are followed.
  • Identify and escalate routine field issues to the Project Manager or Health and Safety Director.

Job description

The Construction Site Supervisor is responsible for daily field supervision of KEMRON employees and subcontractors on environmental remediation and construction projects in the Chattanooga, TN area. This position coordinates day-to-day site activities, maintains schedule and quality control, enforces the Site Health and Safety Plan, tracks employee time, supports budget control, and communicates project status and issues to the Project Manager. The role requires strong field leadership, sound judgment, and knowledge of earthwork, excavation, grading, backfill, sampling process and procedures, and safe environmental construction practices.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES/FUNCTIONS OF POSITION:
  • Supervise and coordinate daily work activities for field employees and subcontractors.
  • Serve as the on-site point of contact for the Project Manager regarding progress, schedule, staffing, safety, quality, and field issues.
  • Review work activities for compliance with project plans, specifications, KEMRON SOPs, and applic

  • Maintain project schedule by planning daily work, coordinating resources, and communicating delays or needed adjustments promptly.
  • Complete and submit accurate daily, weekly, and monthly field reports, including labor, equipment, subcontractor activity, production, safety, and incident documentation.
  • Track employee time and verify field quantities, subcontractor work, and supporting documentation as required.
  • Support project cost control by monitoring field productivity, reviewing subcontractor invoices, and identifying budget concerns to the Project Manager.
  • Enforce proper safety practices, lead or support tailgate safety meetings, and ensure incident reporting procedures are followed.
  • Identify and resolve routine field issues; elevate safety, quality, scope, schedule, or personnel concerns to the Project Manager and/or Health and Safety Director.
  • Operate with dependability, professionalism, and consistency while representing KEMRON on the project site.
REQUIRED EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE & SKILLS:
  • Any combination of education, training, and experience that demonstrates the knowledge and ability to perform the work.
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience as a Construction Site Supervisor, Site Supervisor, Foreman, or similar field leadership role.
  • Experience in environmental remediation, heavy civil construction, earthwork, excavation, grading, and/or backfill strongly preferred.
  • 40-hour OSHA Hazardous Waste Operations and Emergency Response (HAZWOPER) training required.
  • Knowledge of proper use of equipment, materials, and supplies used in environmental remediation and construction work.
  • Knowledge of first aid, applicable safety precautions, and field hazard recognition.
  • Ability to read, understand, follow, and communicate written and oral instructions.
  • Ability to communicate clearly and professionally with employees, subcontractors, clients, project management, and safety personnel.
  • Ability to work independently, make sound field decisions, and complete daily activities according to the work schedule.
  • Basic computer and documentation skills for reports, time tracking, and project communication.
WORK ENVIRONMENT AND PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
  • Work is performed primarily on active environmental remediation and construction sites.
  • Must be able to move around uneven jobsite terrain and work in conditions that may include inclement weather, heat, humidity, dust, noise, equipment traffic, and other field exposures.
  • Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds.
  • Must be able to stand, walk, bend, climb, and perform site observation duties for extended periods as needed.
  • Must be able to meet attendance requirements with dependability and consistency.
SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS:
  • Must possess a valid and appropriate state driver’s license and have a driving history approved by KEMRON’s insurance carrier to qualify to drive company vehicles.
  • Must understand, follow, and sign off on applicable corporate and site-specific Health and Safety Plans.
  • Must be willing to travel or work at other project locations as business needs require.
  • Must be able to pass applicable pre-employment, client, project, and site access requirements.
