Description
POSITION PURPOSE: To safely and efficiently operate heavy machinery like excavators, bulldozers, graders, and loaders on construction sites, move earth and materials to prepare land for building projects, construct roads, bridges, and other structures, and maintain infrastructure by clearing debris and leveling surfaces. Operating this equipment requires significant skill and carries responsibility for the safety of assisting workers.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Include, but are not limited to the following:
• Inspect all vehicles, equipment and machinery.
• Operate heavy-duty construction and maintenance equipment, such as, but not limited to, bulldozers, motor graders, large rollers, front-end loaders, heavy mowing equipment, boom axes, cranes, excavators and other equipment with complex operating requirements.
• Ensure the safe and efficient operation of specialized construction equipment, including excavators, hoists, and oil spreaders.
• Ensure that all safety-related issues and problems are immediately reported to the supervisor.
• Operate a roller to seal road surfaces against moisture, a packer to compact soil, and equipment to fill potholes.
• Remove debris, hauls bulk materials like gravel, and cleans waterways (rivers, creeks, and streams) to ensure proper water flow.
• With proper training, may operate a distributor machine to calibrate oil for road surface repairs.
• Perform vehicle and equipment maintenance as directed by the mechanic and administrative staff.
• Perform other duties as assigned to complete projects within established deadlines
Experience
Experience with asphalt/lay down machine and asphalt process are highly desired.
Must possess and maintain a valid Oklahoma driver’s license and a safe driving record.
Education Required
• High school diploma or general education degree (GED) with additional certificate in technical training school.
• One (1) year minimum experience or combination of education and experience.
