Under supervision, you will perform maintenance tasks, assist mechanics, and ensure safety compliance. Overtime and flexible day shifts are available, with full-time employment and a strong emphasis on reliability and teamwork.

Responsibilities

  • Operates equipment: graders, front-end loaders, backhoes, asphalt distributors, rollers to maintain and repair county roads.
  • Checks and fuels vehicles; perform light mechanical adjustments; assist mechanics.
  • Ensure all site activities are performed in a safe and efficient manner, while adhering to safety regulations and established procedures.
  • Immediately report and safety-related incidents.
  • Display and maintain a professional decorum at all times.
  • Perform maintenance, troubleshooting and housekeeping tasks, as required.
  • May drive dump and water trucks.
  • May blade roads and spread gravel using graders.
  • May distribute asphalt using specialized equipment.
  • May make and grade road shoulders, bridge headers, shape ditches, and install culverts using grader.
  • May perform various manual tasks involved in repairing roads and bridges.
  • Performs other related duties as may be assigned.

Salary: $26.00 – $31.00

JOB SUMMARY:
Under immediate supervision, performs semiskilled work in operating a limited variety of general hauling, construction, and maintenance equipment in the construction and maintenance of county roads and other county property.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
  • Operates any of the following types of equipment: graders, front-end loaders, backhoes, asphalt distributors, rollers, and related equipment to maintain and repair county roads and drainage structures.
  • Checks and fuels vehicles and perform light mechanical adjustments and assists mechanics in performing repairs on assigned equipment.
  • Ensure all site activities are performed in a safe and efficient manner, while adhering to safety regulations and established operational procedures.
  • Immediately report and safety-related incidents.
  • Display and maintain a professional decorum at all times.
  • Perform maintenance, troubleshooting and housekeeping tasks, as required.
ADDITIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES
