Job summary

Horst Group's Horst Excavating is seeking experienced Equipment Operators to join our team in the Mt. Pocono area. You will operate and maintain heavy excavating equipment and support site development projects within a 75-mile radius of Lancaster, PA.

We value self-motivation, quality work, and a strong safety mindset. Candidates must have English proficiency, a valid driver's license, and be able to obtain required clearances for school projects.

Qualifications

• Must be able to read, write, understand and communicate effectively in English.
• Minimum 1 year of general labor experience in excavation.
• A current valid driver's license is required.
• Must be able to obtain required clearances for school projects, including Act 34/Act 151.

Responsibilities

• Operate and maintain excavating machinery and equipment.
• Operates heavy equipment of various sizes and weights on road, utility, site, or highway construction projects.
• Perform routine inspection and preventative maintenance on assigned equipment.
• Communicate concerns or potential long-term performance issues to supervisor.

Equipment Operators

Horst Excavating is looking for experienced and skilled commercial excavating equipment operators to join our busy and great team. Project currently going on in the Mt.Pocono area. Must be proficient in at least one of the following pieces of equipment:

• Excavator
• Dozer
• Loader
• Wheel Loader
• Skid Loader
• Backhoe

The Horst Group consists of 5 separate entities, Horst Insurance, Horst Property Management, Horst Cottages, Horst Excavating and Horst Construction. This position will work solely for Horst Excavating.

Horst Excavating has been in business for over 60 years. Our award-winning team's vision is to continually expand our site development business through customer-centered quality work. For us, it is more than just earthwork. Based out of Lancaster, PA most of our projects are within a 75 mile radius of the main office, however we do provide commercial excavating services throughout the Mid-Atlantic region. The markets we serve include senior living, education, industrial, manufacturing, religious, performing arts, and various other commercial endeavors.

Self-Perform Skills Expectations

As a crucial part of Horst Excavation's Self-Perform team, you'll be expected to perform the following with the highest degree of precision and quality:

• Operate and maintain excavating machinery and equipment.
• Operates heavy equipment of various sizes and weights used in road, utility, site, or highway construction projects.
• Performs routine inspection and preventative maintenance on assigned equipment and refers defects or needed repairs to supervisor; cleans equipment.
• Is attentive to and participates in the total quality process. Communicates any concerns or potential long-term performance issues to their supervisor.

Minimum Qualifications

• Requires basic academic education, through at least 8th grade (or equivalent). Vocational training preferred.
• Must be able to read, write, understand and communicate effectively in English.
• Must have some prior experience operating excavating heavy equipment.
• Minimum 1 year of general labor experience in excavation required.
• Must have ability to apply basic shop mathematics.
• Basic skill level in use of measuring instruments and simple tools required.
• A current valid driver's license is required.
• Will be required to obtain all clearances required to work on school projects, including but not limited to the Pennsylvania and Federal criminal history records, fingerprint submission, Act 34 background check, and Act 151 child abuse clearances.
