Job summary

Paycom is seeking a HDD Locator / Operator to support horizontal directional drilling for underground utilities. This traveling role requires you to be away from home for 2–3 weeks at a time, with $175 per diem paid for each working day and issued weekly.

You will operate HDD drills and locating systems, read maps and bore plans, and assist with setup and cleanup while following safety procedures.

Qualifications

• Minimum 1 year of HDD, underground utility, or related heavy equipment experience.
• Experience with HDD locating equipment, drill equipment, or both.
• Ability to read utility maps, prints, and bore plans.
• Ability to travel and remain out of town for approximately 2-3 weeks at a time.

The HDD Locator / Operator supports horizontal directional drilling operations for underground utility installation, including locating the drill head, assisting with bore setup, operating equipment, and ensuring safe, accurate installation.This is a traveling position requiring employees to be away from home approximately 2-3 weeks at a time. $175 per diem is paid for each working day and paid weekly.Key Responsibilities:Operate or assist with HDD drills and locating systems.Track the drill head and communicate depth, pitch, direction, and adjustments.Read utility maps, prints, bore plans, and job-site layouts.Assist with potholing, bore setup, reaming, pullback, and cleanup.Operate support equipment such as excavators, skid steers, trenchers, plows, and hydro-vacs.Complete equipment inspections, job documentation, and required safety paperwork.Follow OSHA, DOT, and company safety requirements.Required Qualifications:Minimum 1 year of HDD, underground utility, or related heavy equipment experience.Experience with HDD locating equipment, drill equipment, or both.Ability to read utility maps, prints, and bore plans.Ability to travel and remain out of town for approximately 2-3 weeks at a time.Ability to pass required background screening and drug testing.Preferred Qualifications:Valid Class A CDL with an acceptable driving record.Experience with Ditch Witch or Vermeer HDD equipment.Experience with Subsite, DigiTrak, or similar locating systems.OSHA 10 preferred.
